Thanks Marty,
I just wondered if the AAs or 109s had the same spindle as mine in case I
"part-out" my little beastie.. It's a 6" Atlas (Not Craftsman) which was made at
least up until 1981. It's the Model 3950. It too has a 1" - 10 thd. I know
because I made four faceplate/chuck backs for it. It's not enough lathe for me
(I was a machinist).
I'd like to sell it and get a 12 x 36. But I've only seen ONE on the newsgroup
and that person didn't return my post.
You are to be commended for a smashing job. Thanks for ram-rodding this little
shindig. If you hear of other Mod. # 3950 Atlases, let me know, please. I'd like
to sell and trade-up. Probably to a Chinese lathe. I'm afraid the mystique of
old iron doesn't attract me. All we had at our shop WAS old iron. Not everything
old is good as some of these over-romantisized postings would seem to indicate.
Keep up the grand work.
Bob T
Oh, bye-the-bye, there IS a picture of my lathe on a Brit site,
