Re: ELS conversion

Mike,

?

If I had a QCGB I probably wouldn’t be looking at an ELS.? As others have said and in my case I routinely do metric threads as well as SAE.? Mostly telescopes stuff so metric but some of ?both.

?

I also like a nice finish on my parts so prefer a final passes with slow feeds and light cuts.? An ELS should make that real easy vs a bunch of gears on the back of the lathe.? Mine is currently setup for 32 TPI (C-mount) but the part got interrupted by a shower head mount for the bathroom remodel.? I’m hand feeding rather than changing gears.? Is OK, there’ll be a chrome sleeve over the part I’m making, but with an ELS punch a few buttons and off to the races.

?

I agree with you on the Water heater (if electric, maybe), tooth brush and a lot of the other WIFI enabled stuff.? Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should…? My electric car charger is “connected” and that’s (IMO) the best first step to a smart grid, which I do get…? The water heater could fit here too if electric, but not for a phone app.

?
