As a reminder, the prompt for Paper #2 is again shared herein.? The revised deadline is TUESDAY, MARCH 26th.? Thanks

During the 2/20/2020 lecture, Fredy Massad said that the Rem Koolhaas show at the Guggenheim is ¡°about many things but it is not about architecture¡±, in other reviews (), it turns out Koolhaas himself says this show has ¡°nothing to do with architecture¡±. ??

For Paper #2, visit?Countryside, The Future?at the Guggenheim Museum, and write an exhibition review.? Ask yourself, is Koolhaas being honest?in this claim¡ªif so, then why would one of the foremost living architects use his platform to produce something that is not about architecture?? If not, how is this show about architecture and what is the message??Why is "countryside" important for architecture and the city??

Think about our class lectures on ¡°Who is an Architect?¡± and ¡°What is a building¡± and ¡°What is Architectural Theory¡± in particular as well as the break out discussions to inform your viewpoints.? Hone in on at least one specific part of the installation, citing the name of a particular piece and discuss its role, and your reaction to it.? Provide pictures as useful to prove your point (take your own, don¡¯t download from the internet!).

Paper is due in print format?on?March 24th.??

The Guggenheim Museum is located at 1071 Fifth Avenue, at East 89th Street.? Students with ID are $18 at anytime or PAY WHAT YOU WISH from 5-8pm on Saturdays.??

Getting to TWA and next Thursday

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hello All,?

Directions to the TWA Hotel (formerly Trans World Flight Center) are available via this link:??

Please note that the AIR TRAIN is $7.75, and can only be accessed via a PAY PER RIDE METROCARD.? If you use a monthly you will need to carry a spare metrocard or be charged the $1 card fee.??

I suggest you use the MyMTA App or GOOGLE Maps to consider how much time you need to allow yourself to arrive.? As noted in lecture, there is a several minute walk from the AirTRAIN to the Terminal and then from the Jet Blue Terminal into the TWA Headhouse.??

We ask that you aim to arrive by 9, and will begin tours as groups are ready.? Meet at the INFORMATION KIOSK.??

There are no assigned readings for next week, but I share the following article which is a fun background.? Additional optional readings will be posted to the GROUPS.IO this week. Sean
