URGENT - Help/Advise - Sewer Line Froze
Hi, all, I just popped into the basement to check on the laundry, and found water backing up from all three of the floor drains that go to the outside line. That suggests to me that the pipe froze outside. I phoned Roto-Rooter, and they will call back in the morning. My question is what to do in the meantime. I assume, stop running water (except for the one sink with a pipe on an outside wall). I read on the internet to run hot water, but I think that could backfire if the ice plug is outside the house. Does anyone have experience with something like this? THANK YOU! /PF -- ORCID:?0000-0001-6348-2324 Pronouns: all pronouns acceptable My working hours may not be your working hours. Re: Last month's and year's weather app ratings.
Good point, Dan. However, there are so many privacy nightmares out there these days. Sooooo many. For my work, I don't see any way around the privacy issues. I kind of assume that there are no real secrets. On Mon, Jan 20, 2025 at 12:05?PM Dan Pritts <danno@...> wrote:

Re: Last month's and year's weather app ratings.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýLike you I prefer the Wunderground interface, it does a great job of visualizing the important data.?That said, be careful if you use the WU or? TWC phone apps. They are a privacy nightmare. And the mobile web page isn¡¯t nearly as good.? Sent from phone, please excuse typos and/or brevity On Jan 20, 2025, at 11:36?AM, PF Anderson via groups.io <pfa@...> wrote:

I don¡¯t even see Apple Weather in this list. RIP Dark Sky. Though I do see Pirate Weather, which is a similar aggregation concept introduced after Apple took over Dark Sky. I did not expect to see Microsoft chart so high, I check them sometimes but maybe I will use their weather features more often. Interesting, but ... they don't even include Wunderground in the comparison. they used to. <> I guess that's because Wunderground was a subsidiary of TWC for a while and the data would have been the same? I like the interface better, myself. --

I kind of doubt it merged.? More likely it died on the vine.

Re: Gray Panthers of Washtenaw??
Dan, I don;'t know but the "about" page of the Detroit chapter's?website includes: "We keep in touch with Michigan's other Gray Panthers' network in Ann Arbor. Our Gray Panthers' network, ?as its local chapters are called, has attracted grass roots activists into its membership from the City of Detroit and Wayne, Oakland and Macomb Counties."? That suggests to me that the Ann Arbor chapter wasn't disbanded in 2011. I'd recommend emailing the Detroit chapter and asking who thermostat?recent contact for the Ann Arbor chapter is. Gray Panthers of Washtenaw??
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi all¡ª I was just reading How to Retire Happy, Wild, and Free. Fortunately, for me, I¡¯m actually following most of the advice that the author gives in this book. One of the things that the book recommends is joining the Gray Panthers. So, I search for ¡°gray panthers Ann Arbor¡± and found?. It has a link to a website, but unfortunately, that website seems to be long gone. There¡¯s also a link to?, 1979-2011 in the Bentley Library, but as the name implies, it seems to have ceased operations in 2011. So, my question is whether anyone knows if the group is still around? Did they possibly merge with the?, which still seems to be quite active? Regards, Dan |
Re: DYI indoor Air filters
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy son in LA does this.? He says the box fan apparatus is much faster than his normal (large) air purifier at cleaning the air when he gets home, there¡¯s quite a bit of airflow and filtering.? It¡¯s just loud. ? Re: DYI indoor Air filters
I have a variation on the four filter design that uses DC fans from computer applications, but if you have a box fan already, they are totally fine.
