Re: Pig Palace Upgrades...
michael bishop
Other than doing the Kadeetruckand coupler change, I added some more weight to the car, it tracked better going through turnouts. The only other thing I thought of was to add a deck and load it up with pigs, but after pricingthat manypigs it ran empty.

Don't sweat it Rick; likeI said I had to block my nephew for the exact same message. Thank you for acknowledging the issue!

As for A1G cars; suprisiongly there are a number of events where strange things turn up over here. A buddy recently landed several 33,000 tank cars (the yello scheme ones I believe) and my personal hunting choice is Bay Window cabeese. I'm not taking by the Micro-Trains version (the apparent necessity to support toy-train operations making them too high) and would rather get older Atlas models and detail them out. When I have enough of a glut I'll even try my hand at blanking windows and un-roofwalking them! Other than that I am going to pay attention to reasonable priced transition era cars from now on too (I am predominanttly a "modern" guy) since I want to have some retro sessions. The season is just warming up, so hopefully I'll get lucky... -- Dennis C. Kamper dckuk@... ---- guitarrick_c1812 <guitarrick_c1812@...> wrote: To everyone here on A1G, on another note: |
Re: Recent spam mail on A1G
Apology accepted, Rick although don't worry about it. I just deleted the
obviously bogus email so no big deal. As far as A1G cars and swapmeets/trainshows, I believe I acquired only 1 car at a trainshow out of all of mine that I had to get to complete my collection. I probably only had about 30 cars I got back in the day to start with. The 1 car is the Chicago North Western bay window caboose and this was eventually superceded by one I got in a Chicago area hobby shop in NIB condition. Other than that, it was 100% eBay in the late ninties. I now look at my rollong stock database and shudder to see what I paid for some of them. Doug |
Recent spam mail on A1G
To everyone here on A1G,
I want to apologize for the recent spam mail that was coming from my old e-mail address ( guitarrick @ hotmail . com) that everyone here probably received. Over the past couple of years I had this problem with hotmail causing me to change accounts twice. So to combat whom ever is getting inside the hotmail accounts I decided to drop using it all together and go with someone completely different. Though I still wanted to use my old name I beefed it up a little. I also strengthen up the password (and all new too) to make it hopefully harder to crack........ on another note: Since moving here to the Phoenix area makes it a little harder to collect A1G cars. Theirs only 2 places for swapmeets that both have them twice a year. The problem is the private vendors bring out the same stuff all the time. Unlike living in Southern California. So it's off to places like ebay, N scale Supply or places like N Scale Yard Sale. Have to get a little more creative then I like but sure miss going to the good ol' swapmeets in SoCal were I could see everything before making any purchases. So what kind of stories does anyone one have on collecting Atlas 1st Generation cars? Rick |
E-mail change & no more spam!
Rick Will
To everyone,
I want to apologize for the recent spam mail that has come from my e-mail address. So to combat whom ever hacked into this mail site I have setup a new account at Yahoo and will be deleting this one. My new address is guitarrick_c1812@... . Please make a note of this and add me to your account. Rick PS...IMPORTANT!! Please e-mail me so I can save your addresses to my new account!! [Moderator's Note: Since the spam is still running fairly rampant I'm going to leave things on Moderate for a while.] _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail is redefining busy with tools for the New Busy. Re: ADMIN: This group now being moderated
I had to block my Nephew in LA from sending me messages as he had the same problem displayed earlier. Fool hasn't learned nor fixed the problem, but hopefully "our" man is aware that he has a problem and is a bit better at reacting to the issue...

A few potentially dangerous messages have been getting through lately.
Therefore, effective immediately this group is going back to Moderated status. Hopefully this will be a temporary condition. I will approve messages as quickly as I can. Fortunately, this is a relatively quiet group. Cheers, George Your A1G List Owner |
Re: A1G Structures

Thanks for posting. It brought back a lot good memories; I built just about everything shown there, other than the tunnel portals. I was in junior high (middle school now days) when Atlas had these and at Christmas everyone in my family gave me Atlas kits as gifts. I was busy till Easter building the kits.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I stumbled onto this today:
It's from Ross Fink (the same guy with the A1G kits page) Great trip down memory lane! Many of these kits are currently marketed by Model Power and/or Faller (Faller bought out Pola, the original maker of these kits IIRC). Thanks Ross! Mark |

Reading Flat Car
RobertParsons
I finally obtained an Atlas Reading Flatcar #2374. At the same time I bought the four flatcars of the set with the Rivarossi name on them. Suprisingly, the Rivarossi cars are identical to the Atlas cars. The color, writing, and even the Atlas logo on the bottom are all the same. When you put the four cars side by side you can see no difference. They came in a box with the Atlas name embossed on the top. The only difference is the paper insert which has all of the Rivarossi info on it.
Apparently Rivarossi chose to market a car from the same mold. The only change they made was the advertising label insert. On a side note each of the 8 cars I have came with fifteen stakes. The three sprues fit nicely in the pocket of the blue insert. It is obvious the Atlas and Rivarossi never intended to supply enough stakes to fit all of the pockets. I called Atlas and they make the identical stakes today and are available as a part item. |
