Re: Replacement traction tires
Hi Mike,
?? The next best thing to traction tires is Bullfrog snot. Just apply it as shown and let it cure. No more disassembling to replace worn or missing tires. ________________________________ From: MIKE <goldrod_1@...> To: a1g@... E-R Models Helium Tank Car Reissues
umtrr
Hi gang,
I've been quiet on the A1G front but as long as I was in here deleting the SPAM message, I thought I'd let you know that I've acquired the three E-R Models reissues of the A1G Helium Tank Car. I've photographed and posted these three roadnames- U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Air Service and Atomic Energy Commission-- on the page with the A1G Helium Tank Cars. These roadnames duplicated three of the four original roadnames, but they do carry different road numbers. Like the A1G cars in this series, they were manufactured by Roco. More E-R News to come... Cheers, George (your webmaster) |

Re: ATLAS #2491 50' Reefer MODX
MIKE
This last week I was able to buy two of the Atlas European release 50' reefers #2491 and 2492, Even though the white insert states made in Italy the frame/floor has Atlas USA. They also have metal king pins! Looking at the Atlas Rivarossi 1971-1972 I see that there was a 50' double door boxcar for EL paint mineral brown (a grey EL was released in the USA) and a Dupont tank car painted green and yellow (a silver Dupont was released in the USA)I wonder if these cars are out there somewhere?

A couple of questions and looking for parts.
MIKE
What type of controller did the uncoupler ramp have to start out with? I just bought one that came in the blister pack and it has a newer slide controller in the packaging. Second question, I noticed in the 1972 catalog there was a Vermont Railway boxcar listed #2207. Did Atlas ever come out with this one? I know that they had one in the car kit line and a repeat in the 2nd generation line, but this car follows in the Roco body style car list. Last,I am looking for some Roco wheel sets, the dark metal ones, they can be runners. I have a project I am working on and yes, "there is madness to my reasoning". Thanks for any help.

It also list Jumbo Tank Cars; #2246 Shippers Car Line (which they did release), #2347 Burlington and #2348 C&NW. I do not think that the latter two road names ever came out! Michael Bishop The Hercules and Pro-Fax cars are actually one-in-the-same as the Hercules car says "Hi-Fax Pro-Fax" on it. That is kind of a misprint in that catalog. The 1967-68 color catalog correctly lists the three cars released - 2321 - Shippers Car Line, 2322 - Hercules, and 2323 - Gulf. You are correct about the jumbo tank cars, at least as far as Atlas is concerned. Other importers may have had those road names. The three Atlas cars are: 2346 - Shippers Car Line, 2347 - Suburban Propane Gas, 2348 - Warren. I those early N scale days, the importers were quick to release their catalogs to get the jump on the competition and did not always have confirmed product listed. Doug |

Variation on the Viaduct kit
MIKE
I have found that there is a variation between the first release (white box) and the second release (orange box) of the Viaduct kit. The first release is dark brown in color with randomed cut stones and has evenly spaced cut out to the guard rail stone work. The second release is a light white to gray color with even cut and has a solid stone work along the top.

Re: 1972 Catalog Now Posted to A1G Site
Thanks for sharing that catalog Micheasl as it sure bought back memories for me. My first Atlas set started with the SF E-8 freight set and I added a second E-8 (B&O) to it later. And I always dug those SW1500 cow & calf models too. Saved up my money and bought the SF set when my loco train shop got it in stock. :-)

I'm going to work with Michael to move the images to the A1G site, where size limitations of the images won't be a problem.

Re: 1972 Catalog

I just now have been able to see the items that I upload and
yes it is too small to read. I tried loading the .jpeg files into a file folder and was told by the system that the items were too large to upload. I am now going to take and past them in "Word" and try it that way. The dark blue back ground makes each page about 8 to 10 megabits.? Any thoughts? as to fix are welcomed.
