What you need is UV glue, just paint it on the plastic parts use a UV light for 10 seconds and bingo, hard plastic. It's also great if the hole for the driver rod retainers are slogged out, just fill the hole use the light then redrill the holes.

I never said I had Zamac drivers . . . someone else said that . . . and I may not be an expert, but I am not stupid.
I know what a Atlas/Rivarossi steamer is . . . .
My drivers are plastic material and THEY ARE deteriorating in the manner I described.

Greetings all!
I have an Atlas 1G Pacific I am attempting to resurrect.
Upon disassembly, I notice the drivers are made of a dark gray material and are rather "soft".
They are so soft I fear they will not stay in gauge once the unit is reassembled.
Can anyone shed any light on this matter?
Are they supposed to be soft like this . . . if not, is there a cure?
I know this is a long shot, but are there replacement drivers available or does anyone have a set of drivers they would sell or "loan"?
Thanks in advance.
