3?quarts?96 ounces total tomato juice
3?cans?28 ounces each crushed tomatoes
1/2?cup?sugar*
2?teaspoons?kosher salt
2?teaspoons?ground pepper
1 1/2?quart?heavy cream
1/2?cup?chopped basil

Instructions
In a large stock pot over medium heat, add the tomato juice, crushed tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
Add in the chopped basil and heavy cream. Stir to combine. Add more salt and pepper to taste. Cook for about five more minutes to heat through.
Serve hot and garnish with homemade croutons.
Notes
*When I'm making this soup, I add about 1 cup of sugar. I like my tomato-based dishes on the sweeter side. I recommend starting with 1/2 cup sugar and adding more as needed.?
