Re: ID colors

Loren Snyder

Bill,

Now that I have been assigned my own personal color, green/green, I feel
impotent........uh, I mean important!

I notice I am right next to Randy Smidt on the chart. He is green/yellow.
Randy, don't you dare let any of your cars get too close to my cars.......we
don't want any PALE greenish cars to show up unexpectedly."

Bill, putting color dots on expansion track, tools, etc. is a great idea.
But putting color dots on my food is going too far! Nobody better touch my
BLT sandwich made with Miracle Whip........now them's fighting words!!

Thanks for the colors.......am I now in a gang,......huh, am I, am I?
When do I get to go out and bust somebody's couplers?

Loren

Re: ID colors

Loren, all:

Sounds like good thoughts to me!! I'll go visit Michaels and give them
some
business!
Rats. I mistyped. Its the DECOcolor brand, not Durocolor.

PS: Michael's has some unique special-for-them colors not commonly found in
other sources (i.e., an Internet search on "decocolor").

Regards,
Bill K.

Re: ID colors

Loren, others:

Before you go to the mess of brush painting the bolster pins (remixing the
paint and cleaning the brush), you might want to look at the DuroColor paint
pens at Michael's Arts and Crafts. If the bolster pin is clean (wipe it with a
Q-tip and alcohol first if you are not sure) a paint pen is a lot faster
method.

Our "dots" are holding fast after 8 years, even on surfaces that get rubbed a
lot, like the bottoms of expansion track and hand tools. Its a solvent based
paint, not water based, and covers the black pins with a single stroke.

We even paint the sides of our rails with one, and that's survived track
cleaning for 8 years, too.

Just a thought.

Re: ID colors

Loren:

How does one go about getting a color assignment? Just ask? If so I would
like to request green/green.
Gee, its a long, involved and tedious process of assigning colors IDs.
<wink, wink>

Don't forget to put color dots on your tools, expansion tracks, etc., which
are identical to everyone else's. Depending on the club you are in, you may
have to mark your food in the community icechest under the drapes, too. <grin>

Bill,

How does one go about getting a color assignment? Just ask? If so I would
like to request green/green. Sort of goes with all the Oregon trees doesn't
it? Let me know if that is kosher and I will acquire the right pigments and
start painting up a storm.

or decal the bottom with name / club / contact #

Or maybe just be in a club like Los Angeles where there isn't any body yet
:)

Can't say too much though as for us BAZ BoyZ, we're the only ones showing in
our group too !

I just posted the revised chart. It will be easier for me to generate a
PDF,
given folks may well ask for colors not shown on the chart (i.e., cerulean
or
plum). <smile>

Seriously, any color someone wants is just fine with me.

I need to paint some ID marks on some of my rolling stock and locos before an upcoming show (with three different Z displays and an Nn3 display). I would like to claim Green & Yellow. According to the last update to the ID color chart, that combo wasn't claimed yet.

Thanks,

Ed, I'll be commuting. I only live about a half hour from the show. A year and a half ago, I lived about 3 1/5 miles from the Expo Center.

Dave,

Bryan has run my ICE train, and knows what he is up against. Mine was reworked by the Stiskas ( they work wonders on these sets) and runs great. I'm not sur of the details, but they change the circuit around to a be design, and no problems. As far as putting them together, just take it slow and easy.

I did buy some track and switches from him this week. They arrived
much faster than I expected.

He's always had GREAT deals. We've bought close to 100 of the turnouts for
our club , solar sets for $225, you name it. He's beyond a power dealer.

If you can't find exactly what you are looking for, either change your ebay
criteria to German and world-wide or search thru the internet and you find
the German pages where he often has more (same items, just does not have he
time to put them on the English pages).
