Sadie took her gloved hand and gave it a gentle squeeze and brief shake, "I completely understand. Sorry to bother you."
Releasing the girl's hand, she turned to Del and smiled faintly, "Thank you for your help tonight. I'll settle in here and maybe I'll see you tomorrow."
She then stepped into the room and determined the neatly made bed would be hers, as Splice's preferred bed was already a mess.

Del nodded to Sadie, returning her smile.? "Sounds good.? There is some paperwork we need to take care of, but it can wait.? See you tomorrow, then."? She then turned to Splice.? "I'll leave the two of you to get acquainted then.? Do remember to break for dinner, though." Del cast a disapproving eye on the stack of cans around the girl's computer desk. "You can't live on just energy drinks and snacks."? With that she smiled again and left the room.

Splice made a face at Del's departing back, then picked up her controls again.? "Mind if Ikeep playing?" she asked without waiting for a response.? "I'm good at multi-tasking.? It's not my mutant power, though."

"So, Sadie, is it?? Is it short for something?? Do you have a street-name yet?"? Splice's hands were a buzz of activity with the controls as she stared intently into her goggles.? "What's your power?? Anything cool?? I'd love to have a roomie with something cool." The girl grinned apologetically beneath her goggles.? "It's okay if you don't though.? I'd show you mine but it'd weird you out.? For reals.? It's why I wear these granny-gloves.? Maybe later."? She nodded at the stack of cans.? "There's more in the mini-fridge in the corner.? Help yourself if you want one."

I can jump high, too," she counted off the things she could do. "There are people who think I'd make a good super-soldier.?I just...I just want to be left alone, have friends and live a normal life." She drank some of the beverage and realized she hadn't had anything to drink in hours...actually most of the day.? "Names just Sadie. Not short for anything," she responded. "I don't have a street name either. Sorry, nothing exciting here." She finished the energy drink and turned to Splice, "So, what is with the gloves and googles? What's your power?"

Sadie opened the mini-fridge and snagged a power drink out. As she opened it and sat on the bed, she began to answer Splice.
"My power is super-strength, rapid healing, high speed and dexterity. I can jump high, too," she counted off the things she could do. "There are people who think I'd make a good super-soldier.?I just...I just want to be left alone, have friends and live a normal life."
She drank some of the beverage and realized she hadn't had anything to drink in hours...actually most of the day.?
"Names just Sadie. Not short for anything," she responded. "I don't have a street name either. Sorry, nothing exciting here."
She finished the energy drink and turned to Splice, "So, what is with the gloves and googles? What's your power?"

"The goggles are just for gaming.? Nothing to do with my power, though I think they make me look cool.? The gloves though..." Splice lifted her arm and studied her gloved forearm.? "They keep me from accidentally taking control of someone.? My power is that if I make physical contact with another person - skin-on-skin contact, that is - my nervous system will splice with theirs and give me motor control.? They become like a puppet for me... as long as I maintain contact.? So the gloves are kind of a professional courtesy.? To avoid mishaps and misunderstandings."? She waggled her gloved fingers and then picked up her game control once again.?

She sighed and tried to decompress after the ordeal she'd gone through to get here. She thought for a moment, recalling how easily she'd dispatched the foot soldiers sent by Mr. Gray. Sadie lowered her head. She had killed before...just as recently as outside trying to make it into this building. By now Mr. Gray and his people had undoubtably cleaned up the mess she'd left behind. No reason to let the public find out about anything that had transpired. "I...might have," she managed. "Only in self-defense."

"Really?" said Splice, her eyes widening behind her gamer-goggles.? "Good to know," she said after a moment.? "Reaper it is, then."? Her fingers began flying over the controls again as she resumed her game. "You might wanna let Miz Mia and Miz Del know.? Just so they can be prepared for any, you know, legal issues that might pop up." She grinned as she swerved to respond to something her goggles were showing her.? "They're good at that kinda stuff."

"So, you got a boyfriend or anything?" Splice went on, talking as if Sadie's revelation was not of particular concern.? "There's a few guys here that're kind of interesting.? A few girls too, if that's your thing.? I mean, me, I haven't hooked up with anyone in the few weeks I've been here, but it's nice to know that possibilities exist." The redhead made a face.? "There are the norms, of course.? But sooner or later they glom onto the fact that we're different.? And I hate having to keep it all hush-hush just 'cause it might freak some people out."

She walked over and looked out the window, pleased to find they had a view of the grounds behind the house, and no one could see them from the street. "I doubt there will be legal matters from what happened," the dark-haired young woman said, removing her leather duster and tossing it on her bed. "Mr. Gray doesn't want the attention. He'll cover it up, like he does everything. It's whether he'll come after me or not, that's the big question."
