Whispers in the Dark - Scheherazade, Callum
开云体育(Arowyn McLaughlin) Arowyn Smiled at Jamie as he brought her her horse. “Thank you kind sir,” she said to him, her voice soft...playful. When he offered to help her up, she nodded. “Thank you again. That would be most kind.” However when Callum stepped up, his hand going to her waist. Her deep green eyes meeting his. Her voice turned into a breathy whisper. “Thank you, milord,” she said her hands moving to rest atop his, intertwining within his. Her fingers interlocking. The contact was too quick, but it felt like the longest time in her life. Once she was in settled the saddle. She turned so they neither her or Jaimie could see the color on her cheeks. And soon they were off. Riding upon the plains, her long curling red mane bouncing about her shoulders. In the distance, standing in the window of the turret over looking the grounds, sad grey eyes never stop looking at the pair as they road away. (Callum) "The sheep are looking good this year," Callum said to Arowyn when their horses paused near the grazing grounds.? "And the barley fields are full to bursting.? It would've been a banner year all around if only..." His voice trailed off into silence. He looked long into the distance.? "What am ah to do, Arowyn?" he asked without turning his head, the weight of the world heavy in his voice.? "It's like she's lost all interest in life.... in me... in everything.? She used to have such plans for the place, for the gardens in particular.? Now she will nae even leave her room." (Jaimie) Jaimie was troubled as Callum and Arowyn rode off. He trusted his lord as any faithful young Scot would be wont to do. But Lord Callum was a man, and remained a man for all the misfortune that had been thrust upon him.? He glanced instinctively back at the castle tower and saw the lone figure in the window gazing to where Callum and Arowyn had gone, and he could feel the sadness in the way she stood.? He fidgeted awkwardly for a long moment, then made his way quickly back to the castle walls. The stairs up the tower were long but soon Jaimie stood before the door to where the Lady Kirstene had retreated.? "Mistress Kirstene," he called out after knocking cautiously, "is... Is thare anythin' ye be needing?? Anythin' ah kin dae fur ye?"? He hesitated then added "Laird callum asked me tae check oan ye. He... He wis concerned."? It wasn't strictly true, the boy knew, but he was sure the lord would've asked if he'd have remembered to. Translations of Jaimie-speak: "Mistress Kirstene, is... is there anything you be needing?? Anything I can do for you?" "Lord Callum asked me to check on you. He... he was concerned." |

Up in the tower, she watched it happen all over again. The first time she did nothing. This time she would make them pay. (Callum, Jaimie) The lady seemed distracted, so Jaimie just walked silently behind her, leading the horse, until she was safely back within the walls of the castle.? "Guid eve tae ye, mistress," he bid before she went in. He then led the horse back to the stable where he unsaddled her and brushed her down, frowning to himself.? He had felt the ill-meant gaze focused on them from the tower window, but nothing had happened.? He hoped things would stay that way, but in his heart the young ghost knew that was a faint hope. (a presence) She found the interloper in the lower room, starting to wash herself under the strange plumbing that had been added some decades ago in the distant past.? All she could feel was an icy hatred, and she let those feeling fill the room, a chilling cold that extended from the stone walls and then to the water itself, rapidly turning it from a pleasant hot to a freezing spray that stung the skin where it hit.? "Let that dampen yer ardor. And yer thieving heart as well!" a voice hissed, seeming to come from the walls of the room. Tag - Scheherezade, others |
开云体育(Scheherezade, others) Her mind was all over the place. What she saw when she touched Callum. What she felt...Maybe it was a mistake coming here. Maybe she should just sell this. Maybe she... A scream of loud piercing pain erupted from Sam from the sudden icy scalding of the water on her skin. Scheherazade jumped back from the pain so fast that she slipped and felt back against the wall sliding to the floor.?Sam winced. The chilly liquid taking her breathe away and causing her chest to hurt.? She struggled to breathe from the cold chill that surrounded her in the little box she was trapped in.?She tried to move...tried to get out...but she was just so cold. And going through the water to get out was not an option. Pulling her knees to her chest. Sam shivered.? And then she heard the voice...the voice that was full of pain and hurt. Looking up, she saw a shadowy figure through the frosted glass. Just staring...watching... (Branson) Branson heard the scream coming from Sam's room and rushed up the stairs, his bare feet slapping on the cold spiraling steps. Bursting into her room, he didn't see her but the sound of rushing water was coming from the adjoining bathroom.? There he found her huddled in a corner in the glass-enclosed shower, as far away from the watery spray as she could manage.? The eerie cold in the bathroom immediately hit him but he shrugged it off and stepped through it, to inside the shower where to his shock the water was even colder still. "Jesus, Sam," he muttered, trying to shut the icy spray off.? The control knobs however refused to budge.? Gathering Sam up in his arms, he carried her bodily out of the shower and back into the bedroom, grabbing a couple of towels along the way.? He set her on the bed and began rubbing her all over with the towels, then just decided to heck with it and pulled the covers off the bed and draped them around her for warmth. "Are you okay, Sam?" Branson asked, visibly worried.? He put his arms around her, trying to rub some warmth back into her through the bedding.? He glanced back at the shower where the water was still running at full faucet. "I think you need to get a decent plumber out here to check this place over.? I think your pipes are seriously out of whack."? (Jaimie) Jaimie had sensed the scream more than heard it.? And also sensed that Kirstene had come down from her tower, which made him hesitate.? Her rage and torment were like an ache that penetrated straight through the walls, but he instinctively knew where she had gone. The young ghost quickly apparated into Scheherezade's room where he found the American Branson there ahead of him, tending to a soaked Scheherezade he'd wrapped up on the bed.? The water in the shower was still running.? And _she_ was there as well.? He willed himself to be unseen to Branson as he slipped into the bathroom.?? "M'lady Kirstene, please stoap," Jaimie pleaded. Kirstene/Scheherazade? Scheherazade Was freezing. Her body shivering to the bone. She tried several times to get out of the shower and she could not. The was was just so cold...just as bad as scalding hot water every time she tried, the water burned her skin leaving bruise. ?Through the shower she could see the figure’s ghostly outline. “Please,” Sam whispered. The water seemed to blast her colder...harder. “Please,” the young woman begged. But received not reprieve. She didn’t think she could take much more of it when suddenly the shower door opened and Brunson reached in pulling her out. She shivered in his arms and he carried. her teeth chattering loudly. her body shaking violently almost like it in the night she arrived in the rain and Jamie has been savior. Scheherazade didn’t hear anything Branson had said to her for all she could hear was the sound of her own heartbeat pounding ferociously in her ears right before her pretty green eyes rolled to the back of her head and she passed out. Kirstene frowned when the man came to save the wayward soul of her sister. She could have stopped him but she wanted her to suffer a bit before everything came to a head. Except the last person she expected to see was Jaimie although she wasn’t surprised. “ye always did take her side didna Jaimie. Bit th' three o' ye wur a carriage heading fur a cliff 'n' ah coudnae stoap ye, na maiter howfur muckle ah tried." "Is she alright?" a voice behind Jaimie asked suddenly.? He did not need to turn.? He knew the voice and could feel the Callum's presence the moment the lord appeared in the room.? "What happened?? Ah could feel something amiss the moment I returned to the castle." "She is a'richt, m' laird," Jaimie replied.? "She juist hud a shat masel.? Th' cooncil juice wis..." he hesitated, not wanting to tell the truth "...uncommon cauld, is a'.? Her mukker haes gaen aff tae fetch her something taps aff tae dram."? "Ah will look after her, lad," Callum assured him.? "Now go after her friend and see if you can distract him for a bit." He looked to the sleeping Scheherezade with longing.? "Ah want to see if ah can help her... remember." The young ghost hesitated, but finally ducked his head in obedience.? He had misgivings but there was nothing he could do.? "Aye, m'laird," he murmured awkwardly before disappearing from the room. - Kirstene/Scheherazade/Aroywn - Scheherazade rested somewhat peacefully after her fright. She still shivered in her sleep despite being wrapped in blankets and towels. Her mind only mildly registered what Branson said when he left. She felt the gentle touch of hand on her temple and cheek. Vaguely heard the deep rumblings of a baritone lit in her ear. None of that matter however, only rest...safety from the fear...the entity that seemed to haunt her...hate her...in sleep her mind wandered. Deep...deep...back...back... Aroywn sat upon a small tool watching her sister stand staring out the window. Her voice she could hear as she rattled on. Trying to get her beloved sister to talk, laugh, anything that would break her out of grief. After about an hour when it was sure that Kirstene would do nothing but stand and stare out at the two tiny graves in the garden, Aroywn stood “i shall come to visit later, sister.” Standing she kissed her sister on the cheek and made her way from the tower to the kitchen.? She sighed loudly as she threw herself into a chair. “How do you get her to talk to you Jaimie.” Aroywn asked the young lad. “She speaks not a word to me or to Callum or to Miss Crumb, but to you... she will answer. How do you do it?” |
