Re: High Moon Tales. Tales of the Wicked West.
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý[Sicilien] ? "No fire it is," the bounty hunter echoed, stowing the flint and steel back inside his coat pocket.? He stood straight up, raising his arms as he popped a few joints as he stretched out.? When Chase spoke to him quietly though, he didn't answer.? He only shrugged at the dark man, turning to look at him and then changing his gaze to something else in the distance.? His feet took him to the edge of the circle where he peered over the landscape.? It was quiet, almost too quiet.? Maybe a coyote bark somewhere off in the distance, but the insects and all the other creepy crawlies seemed to be gone and that was besides the fact that Flynn's magic circle kept them out.? And like the others, the stench too hit his nostrils like a run-away train.? There was no stopping it.? Whether it was nature or that damn manikin that was causing the air to waft their way, it smelled a feast of maggots upon a freshly rotten slab of meat. ? "Right then, doesn't look like any of us'll be getting that much needed beauty sleep," Sicilien called out, glancing in Etienne's direction.? Turning around, he headed towards her, enjoying how she flinched every time he came near her, but just as he got within 5 strides of her, he switched his bearing towards Callie instead and crouched down at her and Flynn's side just as he heard the tail end of this conversation. ? "Sounds like we need to get your boy toy the hell outta dodge, eh?" he said, gently patting her on the shoulder.? He turned to look back, trying to discern how far away the walking dead were, but there was just too much in the air.? The stench was just too strong.? Reaching out to Flynn, he grabbed hold of the man and pulled him onto his back, standing up bent over as he curled his arms around the legs and moved to wrap them around his waist.? Looking back to Callie, "make sure he's good and set on me, yeah?? Don't want him falling off, and don't think I can trust the horse to canter softly enough not to shake him awake, or drop him.? Someone'll have to pull 'em along.? Shall we move him 200 yards east?? You can tell me if that'll help later." ? - Etienne - ? Etienne wasn¡¯t really paying that much attention to Sicilien and his games right now. She wanted to live. And unfortunately despite what she could do there was nothing that she could no. So that meant she had to think. ? As she stood staring at the edge of the horizon she said. ¡°Moving him won¡¯t help us. By the strength of the stench, there are too many to fight. Moving him 200 yards won¡¯t stop them from finding us. We need to leave the area...completely.¡± Turning to them she said. ? ¡°And the fastest and best way to do that are the horse. The bubble he created for us is big enough for our horses. There are five of us and four house. We strapped him to the lead horse. And then we strap our horse together in a diamond. That will keep them close. Sicilien you take point Callie you take the rear and the Big guy and I will flank the sides. And we head southeast. ¡° she said pointing to a mountain range. ¡°That can provide cover.¡± ? ¡°It¡¯s obvious that Something is trying to keep us from where we are trying to go. So we have to make it think it won. Once we are in the mountains we can get a decent nights sleep, something to eat and come up with a game plan. It¡¯s either that or we split up because I¡¯m not keen on dying for a bunch of strangers.¡± ? (Chase) ?¡®Smart and beautiful, it was clear to see why the Sicilian was smitten with her.? Not that he could blame him at all but that was beside the point.? ¡°Then now that we have a plan we need to move.¡±? He listened to her she didn¡¯t sound at all like the server from the town in which they had met which meant, that, that too was a role.? Seems they were all playing them, he was trying to pretend to be a simple bounty hunter, the couple was a pair of agents.? He wasn¡¯t sure exactly what his new chat partner was or the woman that now spoke with a bit of determination, but none of them were simply by any means. ??He was probably the strongest so moving their magus wouldn¡¯t be too much of a problem for him.??Once he had moved him, he strapped him into the saddle next to his woman.??He moved with a bit of speed, not too much to have him fall loose too far in.??They did need to get someplace to regroup and recoup. Going straight head-on had not worked so they would have to try something else and this worked for him.? He was completely hammer and this required a bit more finesse.? Which he could harken to another's plan right now.? ?¡°We ready?¡±? He said looking at the others as the scent of the dead was still getting stronger now to him at least. (New Callie Carson) Callie astride her horse, with Flynn strapped in behind her, she circled around to the rear of the group. Once in position, she looked to the others and nodded, "Let's do this!" The smell of the dead was not overcoming and Callie found herself gagging from the stench. Then, she heard their moans and growls outside the bubble and she swallowed hard. This needed to work in a bad way... Flynn was helpless, really.? It was taking all of his glamour to maintain the bubble of illusion that was keeping them from being seen, if not by the approaching undead then at least by whatever enemy was commanding them.? He hoped that moving east - or southeast as it was now - would get them out of the undead horde's path in time, but he didn't want to put all of their hopes on it.? Not with the stakes being what they were. Within the dreaming world, he began to cast his gaze downward.? First to the ground, then willing it further, into the ground, into what lay beneath.? Normally he would use this trick to find water, or sometimes to find something that had been buried.? This time though he was having to look deeper, far below the surface, searching for layer of caprock. If he could find caprock, then there was a chance that somewhere below that he could find a cavern.? It was a longshot, he knew, even if he found one.? But it was the best option he could think of.? The only thing he could think of.? He continued his search as they moved, depending on Callie to keep him in the saddle.?? (Flynn) ? The pookah didn't open his eyes.? He didn't need to.? The dead were like a toxic shadow in the dreaming, impossible to miss. ? ? "No, luv," he murmured, his half-asleep features looking sad.? "It keeps them from... seeing us... but that is all....? If they keep walking this way... they'll pass right through it."? He was quiet for a long moment, thinking.? Finally he murmured "One chance... move me... east... 'bout two hundred yards... everyone stayin' close.... I'll try'n keep the spell up." ? "But if'n that don' work... gotta fight..." he mumbled finally, each word seeming to cost him effort.? "Fight for your lives... axes're good... fire's best... sorry, luv..."? He then fell silent. ? Re: Port Vega: Meet & Greet Dinner (Aurora, Lightening Rod, Mara, Devi, Photon, Random NPCs)
?? (Aurora)
? Aurora walked to the dining room in the Benders of Light mansion.? All was prepared for the new comers to be introduced to the group.? She was glad to have a few new comers, it was time to start moving forward with the team and start making themselves known in the town of Port Vega. ? (Devi) ? Devilynn Josephine Shellito had never thought that she would have been asked to join a group of criminals. Well those that skirted the law. Still she found it interesting that she was asked. Devi had been thinking on her way home that night if she was going to wear a costume. She hoped so cause she had already decided what she wanted. The fact that she had already started to make one, didn't matter. ? ?Devi had gotten ready earlier and had spent the rest of the day going over paper work till it was time to go. Devi was always on time unless she planned on being late. Which tonight was not one of them. She made her way to her garage, got in her car and headed out.? ? ?It didn't take long to arrive at the mansion. She pulled up and made her way inside. All the while taking in everything she could. Letting her body find the natural?rhythm of the surrounding area. This way if she had to go quickly, she could. She made her way up to the door and rang the bell. ? (Lightning Rod) ? Roddy was impressed when he saw the mansion.? "Maybe these Bender-clowns are serious," he murmured as he rode his motorcycle up the illuminated driveway, stopping at the bottom of the marble stone steps leading up to the entrance.? He tossed his keys to what he assumed was a parking attendant of some kind in spite of the fancy suit the man was wearing.??"Not a scratch if you want a tip, Jeeves," he said theatrically as he started up the steps. ? He didn't see any other cars nearby and frowned, wondering if he was early. But then shrugged.? "Probably just wanting to be fashionably late," he muttered.? He noticed a girl standing by the door ringing the bell.? "Well, at least I'm not the first one to show," he said, giving the tall polished doors an appraising lookover. He looked back to the girl, trying to assess her as well.? She didn't exactly radiate menace, which he found disappointing. He was hoping for more. ? "So, you here for the meet'n'greet?" he asked, trying to sound like he did this sort of thing all the time. ? (Raine) ?Was dressed for the evening, shirt, tie, vest, and jacket.? He was pretty sure this was more to set precedence more than anything.? He was the second in command because he had earned it and he took his job seriously, perhaps too seriously.? He was going down to check on Aurora, he was wanting to know what he had missed.? He gave her his debrief and was now looking forward to taking down his little brother and his rag-tag group.? He was sure he would have to deal with dear ol¡¯ dad since Brandon was not into himself enough to present a decent challenge for him.? He did a last check over himself and he was clean as he went downstairs to great or deal with their guests.? He roamed out of his room and down the stairs easily as he waited to see Aurora and waited for the others to show.? ? ¡°Good evening lovely.¡±? He said next to her just loud enough for the two of them to hear.? With similar powers, they could both speak hypersonically to each other. ? Tag: All members of the Benders of Light. Re: High Moon Tales. Tales of the Wicked West.
??
(Callie Carson) ? "No fire," Callie said calmly. She tossed some rations to Etienne and settled down to wait. ? It was night and Callie sat on a boulder, sharpening her knife, keeping an eye on Etienne to make sure she didn't run, and that neither Chase nor Sicilian bothered her. She also had to concentrate hard to make sure she didn't look at the protective circle Flynn was projecting around them. She could only imagine how hard this was for him to maintain. She hoped it held, or they might find themselves lost, wandering in the desert. ? As she sat and busied herself, she suddenly noticed a foul stench, wafting into the campsite from the direction of Bendo. She ignored it at first, but as time passed she realized the smell was growing stronger. Then a grim realization came over her. ? Flynn had foretold this. Trouble, he'd said, coming their way. ? The only stench she knew that was like this was the dead, when they walked the earth. She sheathed her blade and picked up her rifle before walking toward Flynn, who sat on the ground, deep in concentration. She knelt beside him and leaned in close to his ear. ? "Luv," she whispered. Re: The Trouble Begins (Katya and Ashton)
?(Ashton)
Ashton looked at her all nonchalant about her killing.? ¡®Was it wrong that

Golem.? They are not cheap!? Magic wise, someone left it to stop us
or kill us or both.? The fact that it was left in Arrow¡¯s place meant it
was there for a reason.? Some type of guardian."? But there was
nothing up there, so what secrets?? Meaning it was a timed
distraction.? He needed to find Arrow¡¯s body in hopes of getting answers
but with no coroner or investigation there was no telling where the body
was.? So the trail would be cold. (Katya) Katya looked around and spotted a hose.? She picked it up, turned the water on and rinsed herself off,? "nope, I'm fine." She said as she turned the water back off, scrapped as much water off as she could with her hands. She went to the trunk of the car and got out a bag. Without hesitation she stripped out of the wet top and pants and put dry ones on out of the bag. "Remember, always carry extra clothing, cause you never know when you will need a change." She closed the bag, tossed it and the wet clothes into the trunk, then got in the car.? "Okay, so let's go see this Angelo." She said as she wrapped her wet hair up into a bun. (Ashton) Ashton couldn¡¯t help but admire his half-naked lover. She rinsed and he watched.?? He always had both admired and desired her, she wasn¡¯t just beautiful but smart, cunning, and funny.? Disaster Cruise: The Calm Before¡
Day 3 started out as a perfect day.? It almost ended that way, too. The sun rose over this tiny beautiful island, one of the rare Out Islands.? It had sparkling white sands, brilliant colored corals, and covered in a resplendent jungle with colorful flora and fauna.? The sky was blue, with sparse clouds and the temperature was deliciously warm. On the agenda, snorkeling, guided nature hikes, kayaking and paddle boarding.? The ship¡¯s master chef, ever one who liked using local sources, even invited more adventurous passengers to go spearfishing with him for the evening¡¯s dinner, and foraging in the island¡¯s interior fruit trees for the evening¡¯s dessert.? He knew these islands like the back of his hand. It was also the perfect day to do nothing at all. After a light lunch, all the passengers were gathered back aboard, the anchor was weighed, and the Seven Sisters raised sails as she slowly gathered speed, and was back on her regular course to her next destination. That evening, before the sun set, a lavish dinner was prepared and set.? Along with the usual menu and requests (being a small operation, they could customize for those who had specific dietary requirements¡to a point), there were filets of the various fish that were caught earlier that day, all masterfully prepared.? A small variety of desserts followed, including those prepared with the native fruits that were picked. All in all, it could¡¯ve been the Carribean equivalent of a Norman Rockwell moment¡ªthe perfect end of a day¡ (Tag Open) |

She had road it higher and higher and now with that one phrase she released.? Evone¡¯s blue eyes rolled back into her head and she climaxed with a deep strong groan. Her legs tightening around him.? (Andrew) The captain of the Elusive gasped as his lover's orgasm rippled along his swollen shaft, sheathed deep in her tight wet sex, begging him for his seed.? He groaned as the blessed release of his own orgasm left him shuddering, hunching his hips as spurt after spurt of urgent semen erupted from his cock, filling his beloved's most intimate place.? He kissed her hungrily, devouring her mouth and lips until finally the force of his cumming dissipated into a few last ebbing pulses. He reveled in the quiet moment when their sexes were still joined, a sheen of sweat glistening all over their naked bodies as the warm tropical breeze moved gently over their skin. "You are mine, Evone'," he murmured, gazing deep into her eyes as he reached up to brush some strands of hair from her face.? "And I am yours.? And may the fates never see us parted again." Re: Raconteur City: The Summoning (Pyp, Kutsuki)
(Pyp)
[Kutsuki] Though Pyp was gone from his sight, Kutsuki was still quite incensed.? Not just at the imp, but also at himself.? He walked over to the mirror, looking at his face that didn't seem all that different from a demon's, impeccably groomed brows furrowed in anger, crimson eyes blazing, his pupils akin to a snake's, his mouth set into a grimace, showing off his pearly fangs.? Arms crossed, he stood by the mirror for quite a while, pulling his hands out of his elbows and looked at his palms. What the hell was he thinking?? What was that?? What came over him that he felt so compelled to touch Pyp's face, even if it happened to bear his own at the time.? Why didn't he feel any revulsion at first?? He was Kutsuki, having a severe aversion to touch since birth - what changed that he could do it for the first time in his life, even if it was for a short while?? He was curious himself, but that fucking imp...the way he mocked him was just maddening.? Throwing his hands in the air, he screamed in frustration, but then clammed and just started stripping off his clothes.? He need a shower, badly, and he was going to scrub himself raw till his normally alabaster white skin turned pink. A short while later, Kutsuki stepped out, toweling dry his hair as he walked naked into his room.? There was no one there, not his parents, nor the imp, but he twisted his body, looking up and around, wondering if the damned hellion was spying on him from somewhere.? Shrugging, he pulled on some silken pajama pants, leaving his upper body bare, walking up to the computer, hands hovering over the keyboard, wondering if it was worth it turning on the PC.? His pale reflection stared back emotionless.? Feeling compelled, he opened his mouth and poked at his fangs with his tongue, sliding over the top row and then his lips.? A thought had occurred him...no.? No nononono, no way.? He felt a cold shiver make its way down his way. "Nope, not today.? Not ever," Kutsuki told himself, slipping into his bed.? He pulled the covers up to his chin, tightly hugging them to his chest as he shut his eyes and fall asleep.? But what felt like hours after, he twisted and turned, restless, bothered.? His mind kept churning over the same thought, the same idea, being unable to let go.? It wasn't until he threw a childish temper tantrum, uncharacteristically punching and kicking at the mattress, wholly unsatisfied with the day's event, until he's finally had enough and screamed, "Argh...FUCK!!? FUCK YOU, ASSHOLE!"? Having had enough, he fell back onto the bed, chest heaving as he tried to recover some semblance of control.? Frustrated, he flew into the bathroom and opened his medicine cabinet, pouring out a measure dose of valerian root.? It never seemed to fail at calming his restless mind and body, but tonight he took a more concentrated amount and downed it with half a bottle of water.? Eventually he went back to bed, crawled under the blankets and closed his eyes, finally falling into deep sleep. [tag Pyp] |
Re: Raconteur City: The Divine Pleasure (Luke, Lira)
(Luke) As Tiger tied up the Divine she mentioned the fishing problems early in the day.? "Sometimes I miss on the good fishing areas," Luke muttered. Tiger shook her head, "Never before, you always seem to know where is best." "Everyone has a bad day," he countered. "Well, I'm out," she called propelling herself off the boat and onto the pier with the ease of a gymnast. Luke said something in response but she couldn't make it out. Something about bad fish. He sat in one of the fishing chairs and waited as the afternoon melted into early evening. Luke pulled his phone out and texted Scarlett, "If you need me tonight send me the place and time. I can bring beers if you want." (Lira) Lira had made her way on shore and when through the transformation from siren to human, found some clothes and was now walking along the docks.? She made a deliberate course to the particular dock where the Divine Pleasure was.? She strolled along and looked at the boat.? She wondered what the Mr. Reardon was going to do next.? We'll go from there to check out the house." She then fired up the bike and rolled out of the garage and into the night streets of Raconteur City...

As Tiger tied up the Divine she mentioned the fishing problems early in the day. ???Sometimes I miss on the good fishing areas,??? Luke muttered. Tiger shook her head, ???Never before, you always seem to know where is best.??? ???Everyone has a bad day,??? he countered.?? ???Well I???m out,??? she called propelling herself off the boat and onto the pier with the ease of a gymnast. Luke said something in response but she couldn???t make it out. Something about bad fish. He sat in one of the fishing chairs and waited as the afternoon melted into early evening.?? Luke pulled his phone out and texted Scarlett, ???If you need me tonight send me the place and time. I can bring bears if you want.???

Re: The Door Between Two Worlds [Roue and Rabbit] (closed)
OOC: Sorry about the wait, Whitt.? I indeed did not get the first one, but this one made it through.? I'll post for Kutsuki tomorrow cause I still owe you that.
[Roue] As Rabbit spoke, getting quieter and quieter, Roue just listened laying on his back a bit as the little vampire ran his hands through the elf's long locks.? When he wrapped his leg around Roue, then wizard turned to his lover, his eyes searching the others.? He wondered what made Rabbit so jittery all the time, if it was just his nature or if there was something else. "I don't know what information I could possibly have that would be of use to anyone in this place, but I hear you," he sighed, turning his head back as Rabbit scooted closer to him.? The little vampire always felt much cooler to the elf's typically warmer body, but it was a nice effect.? Like gentle fire nestled against an icy stone.? As her got closer, Roue wrapped his arm around his lover's shoulders and pulled him in closer, cradling his head in his palm as he gently fingered his ear, lazily tracing his jaw with his fingertips.? "I promise that I'll try to keep a tighter lid on my own secrets, but...you said this place was safe, but could someone gain entry into under the guise of good intentions, but really intending to do malevolent harm?"? But as Rabbit continued, revealing his body as the only currency that he had, Roue couldn't help but feel upset about that, his heart rate increasing as he continued to think about it.? He felt his fingers curled around Rabbit's collar unintentionally, but when he realized what a white knuckled grip he had, Roue loosened his hold and moved so that Rabbit lay beneath him, using one arm to prop himself, the other possessively tracing patterns on Rabbit's hip. "But do you have to always pay for things with your body?? Couldn't you just hold it as debt and pay it off as you go along?" he asked, but when Rabbit looked at him, seeking comfort rather than reprimand, he clammed up, biting his lip.? It wasn't his place, it wasn't his place, the elf repeated to himself.? You've only know him for how long and you're getting jealous, why?? Because you fucked him once?? What a farce.? He breathed out his frustration, leaning down to kiss his host and then pulled back, gently palming his cheek as he smiled at him.? Rabbit was already doing so much for him.? The least he could do was keep his mouth shut and help him. "Yes, I am very curious to hear what you've found," Roue echoed as Roue traced his ear, much like Palyndra did.? His cheeks colored, feeling ashamed that he thought of someone else.? "And I will help you pay for that.? Whatever it takes, okay?? It's the least I can do for you." [tag Rabbit] |

(Luke) ¡°What the hell man!¡± The blonde young man yelled to the others. He pulled his line out of the water and there was nothing but an empty hook.¡± Tiger laughed, ¡°That happens sometimes.¡± In moments however all three of the charter passengers had reported the same thing. They all had a serious bite, a long pull session then nothing and no bait.
¡°Bait them up,¡± Luke called down to Tiger from his perch on the lookout platform.? He climbed down the stairs and went to his bridge house. His sonar would show what fish activity there was currently. He turned it on and watched the screen light up with plenty of green flashes that indicated schools of fish. He flipped on his undersea cams. There were no images, just static.? ¡°³Ò°ù±ð²¹³Ù.¡±? Tiger popped her head into the wheel. ¡°What¡¯s the story boss?¡± ¡°I¡¯m not sure but I¡¯ve got my suspicions.¡± Luke popped his head out and spoke to his passengers, ¡°Going to visit another spot. These fish here are just too smart.¡± He fired up the three outboards, ¡°HOLD ON!¡± He cut loose full throttle and headed north and closer inshore. After about five miles he shut down the engines. ¡°Let¡¯s try here.¡± As the fisherman worked to put out their lines Luke went to the back and leaned down over the engine well. He spoke to the water in a gentle tone that wasn¡¯t English. ¡°What do you want,¡± came the reply in his head.? ¡°Please check and see if there are mermen down below?¡±? In moments another voice projected into his head. ¡°Yes, they swam up close underneath.¡± ¡°Ask them a question for me and bring me their answer.¡± ¡°What is the question?¡± ¡°Where can I go where they are not bothered by my presence.¡± ¡°Hah!¡± said the water elemental. ¡°I can answer that for them. Get lost!¡± ¡°Very funny. Please go ask them.¡± The elemental did as commanded. (Lira) As the boat was put into full throttle, Lira signaled to the other two to remain. They simply all stayed in their hunting grounds and watched the boat speed away. They were heading back towards the harbor when Lira felt the shift in the water. She paused as the water elementals made contact. She didn't respond as this fool thought he was dealing with mermen and then continued on to the harbor. The elemental by the Divine Pleasure waited for a response. It splashed the bottom of the boat. Once Luke's head was back in the water, "they seem to be gone now. Didn't give a response." The elemental was not going to tell Luke that he had asked about the wrong species, let the human have his suspicions. "Have a good day, and enjoy the fishing here." Tag: Luke |

It hadn¡¯t taken Marco long to inspect his cabin. It was six feet long and five feet wide.? The bunk took up most of the space but it was folded up into the exterior bulkhead. One wall held a small sink, several drawers and an interior space for hanging clothing. There were no USB hookups or phones or even a TV. It was spartan even compared to a jail cell. That was a space he planned on never seeing again.? The bed was made of two unequal halves giving the user the ability to fold down the smaller section and use it like a chair. Marco pulled that section down and sat down. Next to him against the footwall a table was folded up against that wall. He pulled it down and it lay just over his lap. He could eat on it or draw or use a laptop if he¡¯d brought one.? ¡°Well that was fun,¡± he said to himself and left his cabin. The hallway was cramped in the best of circumstances, now it was a comedy of disfunction. Several people were trying to enter and leave their cabins at the same time and one huge guy, he looked oriental was daintily threading his way past all of them. When he got to Marco he smiled then slid on past to the last cabin door. He turned and gave Marco a fearful glare then knocked thoughtfully on the cabin door. It opened and he went in. From Marco¡¯s angle the cabin had looked huge compared to his own. Bigger than five of his sized cabins at the least. If there were more of those big boys they likely needed the space.? Marco turned away and headed aft towards the dinner cabin and the access stairwell that led to the deck.

Re: Disaster Cruise: Your ticket to adventure (Catherine, Marco, Valentina, Stan, Maya, open)
(Marco Lastra) Marco exited the Sandals Royal Bahamian and stepped into a waiting taxi. He tossed the small backpack into the seat next to him. His entire needs for a short voyage at sea amounted to very little.? ? His short stay at the Sandals had been a welcome break from his business activities in the US. His last adventure in the Alps seemed a distant memory. He looked forward to diving in the Azure waters of the Caribbean.? ? He¡¯d learned to Scuba dive in Portofino many years ago and had revisited the area several times over the years. Now he avoided Italy and decided to give the Caribbean a shot.?A colleague had mentioned a cruise that ventured to remote isles and celebrated one of the best undersea experiences.? ? His week in Nassau had been uneventful. He¡¯d spent two days scuba diving off the Schoolhouse Reef. The thrilling dives had left him energized and looking forward to more fun.? ? The intimate confines of the Seven Sisters almost put him off but a reference to the human condition would not hurt him. He could behave himself for an extended time if the need was worth the adventure. ? He had not had to worry about the paparazzi. His whereabouts had gone undetected so far and that made the trip that much more enjoyable.? ? The taxi dropped him off at a large marina. It didn¡¯t take binoculars to pick out the Seven Sisters. It loomed large at the extended pier.? ? A steward greeted him at the gangway. Marco presented his passport and the golden embossed ticket.?¡°Welcome aboard the Seven Sisters Mr. Lastra.? We do hope you enjoy the cruise.¡± ? ¡°We shall soon find out,¡± Marco replied. He looked down at the water that glistened below the gangway. It was clear and he could see some movement as multiple fish darted in and out of the shadows. The sun beat down on his sun browned skin but a fresh breeze off the ocean kept him cool. ? He climbed aboard the small craft and wondered again what he had been thinking. The vessel was tiny compared to the vast girth of modern cruise ships. The schooner was glorious in person and he spent a few moments just absorbing all the detail of rigging and polished wood surfaces.? ? ¡°This way to your cabin then you may be free to walk about the boat.¡± ? Marco nodded irritably. ¡°Okay, lead the way.¡± He ducked his head at the passageway entrance and smiled grimly, he¡¯d have to watch his head on this rig. ? The cabin was cramped, just what he¡¯d been expecting. A bed, a small desk with a small chair and that was it. He did manage to have a small portal to view the sea.? ? The sound of a large boat approaching came through the stout timbers of the Seven Sisters. The steward spread his feet wide as the schooner listed one way then the other at the big cruiser¡¯s wake. Marco had just enough sense to grab a post before being tossed about his own cabin. ? The steward nodded his approval with a small smile. ¡°These rookie pilots don¡¯t follow the speed requirements.¡±? He pointed towards the stern.? ? ¡°A community shower is down the hall sir you can¡¯t miss it. Dinner at six. We will set sail as soon as all the passengers are aboard. A short introduction by the Captain will commence just prior to our departure.¡± ? ¡°Thanks,¡± Marco growled. He handed the steward a fifty. ¡°See you on deck shortly.¡± ¡°YES SIR,¡± said the steward with a renewed bounce in his step. ? (Valentina Mendoza) US Army Field Base - Somewhere in Iraq Afternoon ? It was supposed to be a random Op, nothing out of the ordinary. The recon team would have been gone for just a couple of days. Valentina enjoyed moments like that. Less people in the camp, more time to focus on the maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. There was still a sense of routine and camaraderie off course, but less of the pressure, less of the noise and the macho bravado. ? She wasn¡¯t quite sure what happened to fuck that all up. There had been no telltale signs, no nothing. One minute she was working on the engine of a truck and the next, there was nothing but chaos, fire and hell. Everywhere around her there was ash and smoke. People were screaming but she couldn¡¯t hear them, couldn¡¯t hear anything but that insistent ringing in her ears. ? It was strange, the things you tended to focus on in moments like that. There were a lot of casualties, without a doubt. So much death and destruction. The kind that should have paralyzed her but instead she tried to move, mind jumping into focus, training kicking in. She tried to get up, tried to move but then realized she couldn¡¯t. It didn¡¯t make sense at first. Not understanding why something that seemed so simple before couldn¡¯t be done now. She just couldn¡¯t do it and that was frustrating. Running on nothing but sheer adrenaline. ? It wasn¡¯t until the second explosion went on that everything went dark again. ? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It had all gone to ratshit so damn fast. ? Coming in, the scene below them had been utter devastation, there was now a crater where tents used to be, he could see clear and overt areas of fire damage and mass destruction. As he would find out later, all caused by explosives inventively hidden and successfully deployed before anyone had time to discover them. ? Clearly people were still alive down there, they could be seen fire-fighting and hauling ass down below as the two HH-60M Medevac Blackhawks flew in to the rescue. Jack watched the soldiers move as the hello¡¯s landed and he tried to assess the situation as best he could until given permission to put boots on the ground. ? There was still fighting going on, the enemy insurgents having taken advantage of the initial chaos, but the core center of the small base of operations (what was left of it) was protected now. They had a safe place to land, and a team already assessing casualties on the ground. They were ready, and the worst of the wounded were waiting. --- Six casualties fitted into the Blackhawk, only two of those inbound were still conscious, and one of those was howling like a wolf. Jack settled him down first, checked his wounds were all patched and set him a morphine drip. When he was quiet, only then did he move over to his other waking patient. ? Fuck. He knew this one. Hadn¡¯t seen her for a good while, but he remembered her well enough. Valentina Grace Mendoza. Daughter of the renowned Captain Elias Mendoza, though that wasn¡¯t why Jack knew her. They¡¯d been through Boot together, nearly eight years previous. ? ¡°Hey,¡± he said, gifting a smile to the woman who was strapped securely into a stretcher and totally immobilized. ¡°You¡¯re gonna be okay, Vali. I got ya.¡± ? He rested a calm hand on her forehead lightly, checked all her straps were tight and solid, and ensured she wasn¡¯t moving anywhere when they took off. Then he set up the IV, morphine for the pain and checked her over carefully. ? ¡°You¡¯re gonna be okay.¡± Her leg looked seriously fucked, there was blood soaked into every part of her and her face was charred, but yeah. She¡¯d survived this far. Jack was confident she¡¯d make it home, one way or another, and his voice implied the same. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Present Day This trip had been meant as an escape. A way out. Valentina was used to travelling, she was used to seeing the world, but all of this? It was not her usual way of living. Staring out at the open water the young woman couldn¡¯t help but wonder what the hell she was doing here, right now, in this very moment. Running away from her problems wouldn¡¯t solve. It wouldn¡¯t change how fucked up her body still was, even after all these months. ? She wasn¡¯t the same anymore and would never be the same again so why even bother trying? It wouldn¡¯t amount to anything and would end up making her even more unhappy. Without a purpose, a real goal. Before she had been trying to save her country, before she had made a difference. Going on holiday it didn¡¯t mean anything. It was random. ? Better make the best of it right? Use this as an opportunity to get her solid ground back again. But that was hard to do and while she was trying as hard as she possibly could, it wouldn¡¯t be easy though. It never was. ? (Stan Kelley) ¡°This had better be the best fucking vacay I ever took,¡± Stan muttered to himself. ?¡°Can¡¯t be worse than the trip here¡¡± The last 24 or so hours had been hell. ? His manager, after she had nagged him to take a break from the nonstop touring and promoting, finally arranged a cruise¡of sorts.? This wasn¡¯t one of those ginormous building sized monster ships that was part hotel and part shopping mall.? No, this was an actual sailboat.? It had room for only 24 passengers.? There was no shuffleboard, no casino, no high-end stores selling overpriced garbage.? This was a real ship.? Cool.? Sounded great.? Right up his alley. ? Everything fell apart as soon as he hit Montgomery, Alabama.? There was a computer glitch on their end, and suddenly they had no record of his flight.? Fuck!? He checked around, and there was no other flight available to Miami, from where he¡¯d transfer to a sea plane to get to Nassau.? Fuckity fuck! ? With no other option available, he called his agent.? It was godawful at night, so she answered with a garbled ¡°Hello?¡±, which sounded more like ¡°Dude what the fuck?¡±. ? ¡°I¡¯m stranded in Montgomery,¡± he had said. ?¡°There¡¯s no connecting flight to Miami, and there won¡¯t be one until later.? What do I do?¡± ? After the longest pause (where he had assumed, she was plotting his demise), she finally said ¡°Okay, gimmie an hour¡I¡¯ll see what I can come up with.¡± Fine.? An hour, he could do.? He tooled around a bit, got a cookie from the airport knock-off of Starbucks, got some water to wash it down a little after that, scribbled some lyric ideas¡ªhis phone went off.? He answered. ? ¡°³Û±ð²¹³ó?¡± ¡°Okay, I solved the problem, I think,¡± his agent started. ?¡°There¡¯s a chartered flight company that can make the trip on short notice.? One question: ?How do you feel about single engine planes?¡± ? Everything in Stan¡¯s body seemed to drop into his crotch.? From what he had heard, single engine planes were as INTENSE as it got in the world of flying short of fighter planes.? Not wanting to sound like a wimp, he of course had said ¡°no problem.¡± ? So, he went to the part of the airport where you waited for chartered flights.? No metal detectors, nothing.? Just a ¡°hey there¡±, and they took his name down, and confirmed his flight.? At least this sounded okay, so far. Then he met Daryl the Pilot, and his wind-up prop-plane. ? Daryl the Pilot was in a leather jacket, and wore a baseball cap with the word ¡°Zildjian¡± on it.? Zildjian was a name familiar to him.? They made cymbals.? So, this dude had a friend in a band, right? ? Wrong!? He was in a band, as a drummer.? A cover band¡lowest form of life on the rock & roll food chain, and the first red flag Stan had about this guy.? Danger!? Danger!? Danger! ? Then there was the plane¡what was best described as a canoe with wings.? The door, unlike the vault-like seal-you-in ones real airplanes had, looked like it belonged on a golf cart, and would fall off the moment he opened it.? There was barely room for his duffel and backpack in the cargo bay.? He squeezed himself into the seat, and shut the door with a pitiful ¡°click¡±. ? The engine started with a cough, and it spun up to a lethargic buzz, as the plane started to tool around the airport.? Daryl looked like he was lost in midtown as he peered out of the cockpit.? Finally, after dodging larger passenger planes, they lined up behind some other small planes.? When it was finally their turn, they began their run.? Stan swore that he could walk faster than this plane was going, yet somehow¡ªperhaps a stiff breeze at the right time¡ªthey were airborne. ? Stan was grateful he had used the men¡¯s room before takeoff.? This was terrifying.? The plane shook every time they took a course correction, and he was wondering what kind of pilot Daryl was, as he TOOK HIS HANDS OFF THE CONTROLS TO LOOK AT A MAP.? Then, about an hour or so into this nightmare trip, Daryl the Pilot uttered the one phrase you never wanted to hear from the pilot¡¡°Uh-oh.¡± ? That sinking feeling was back. ?¡°What do you mean ¡®uh-oh¡¯?¡± ¡°Well¡it¡¯s like this,¡± Daryl said sheepishly. ?¡°I forgot to fuel up the plane back in Montgomery, and now we¡¯re near empty.? We need to set down ASAP.? Don¡¯t worry, I¡¯m on this.¡± ? ¡°Sure¡¡± Stan said externally.? Internally he was whimpering ¡°ohgodi¡¯mgoingtodie¡±.? And with that, Daryl the Pilot got onto the radio to cry for help. ? Real passenger planes gently descended into airports.? Not this single engine suicide machine.? He swore that they went 90¡ã straight down and came to a stop in the span of two parking spaces.? His stomach was somewhere else at that moment¡ªprobably still going to Miami.? He was now in some remote airstrip called Carabelle Thompson Airport in the town of Carabelle.? Population: ?2,700. ? They had to wait for someone to come down to open the airport (I shit you not!) before Daryl could refuel the plane.? Of course, there was no cell signal, so he had to wait for some lady to come down in her pickup and unlock the pump. ? Stan took the time to go into this lady¡¯s office and call up his agent with what had been happening all night.? Then she hit him with a bombshell¡ ? ¡°Stan¡Daryl isn¡¯t a pilot.¡± Well, that explained a lot, he thought. ? ¡°I made a terrible mistake,¡± she admitted. ?¡°I didn¡¯t call the charter place, but an aircraft maintenance depot.? Daryl has a training license, and he worked there.? He¡¯s a groupie fanboy, Stan.? He must¡¯ve heard your name dropped when I called, grabbed a plane, and¡well, he didn¡¯t even properly log the flight, and he¡¯s in deep shit.¡± ¡°So¡what now?¡± he asked. ?¡°You have a plan, right?¡± ¡°Yeah, I most certainly do,¡± she said. ?¡°Stay put.? Definitely do NOT get back on the plane with Daryl¡ª¡± ¡°No shit,¡± Stan confirmed. ? His agent continued with a sigh. ?¡°I¡¯ve already contacted a real charter that can take you to Nassau directly.? They can be there in an hour.¡± ¡°°¿°ì²¹²â.¡± Shortly afterward, Daryl came in, pleased as punch that he had managed to refuel the winged canoe.? He was rather crestfallen when Stan told him he wasn¡¯t going anywhere with him anymore. ? Four hours later, after a more comfortable two engine seaplane ride.? He was at the slip of the Seven Sisters and ready to board.? The scene looked idyllic¡ªalmost like an Andy Warhol portrait.? After everything that happened to get here, he thought.? Well¡at least the hard part¡¯s over. ? (Maya Mononobe) When Maya received a letter from the Seven Sisters cruise line, it was first picked up and examined by her guards.? Once opened, it had gone through several safety tests.? Was there any kind of powder on it?? Knock out scents?? Was the paper or the ink poisoned?? Who sent it, fake or real persons?? Any and all fingers prints that touched the paper in anyway were investigated, peoples' identities pulled up, all to ensure that it wasn't someone out to get Maya.? And oh, she had plenty of competitors who would've loved to be in her seat, so one could never be too careful.? In any case, being the Mononobe clan leader's only granddaughter, nothing was too far to ensure the safety of their baby girl.? So, when the message finally reached her, it was one of Maya's guards who entered her room, only after Maya allowed them to come in, knocking with two heavy raps and three light ones. ? "Enter," an elegant, feminine voice called out from the inside.? The Mononobe daughter's room was lavish, a suite that was big enough to house a small office.? Her windows faced out into the ocean, the silken and gossamer like curtains gently swaying in the breeze.? The space was divided into several sections, one for private bathing with a hot tub tucked into a corner and hidden by a tall, bamboo privacy divider.? Another as an office with multiple computers and electronics expertly arranged in a semi-circle.? Third contained a library of sorts where various high-level education and business books were neatly arranged by type, topic, and lastly by author.? There were volumes in multiple different languages, a par due course for someone who was internationally desired.? Then, yet another chunk of the room was set aside as bedroom space, like the bathing room, it had its own bamboo screens containing a king size bed with tons of pillows and cloudy, puffy blankets.? Aside from the cut and dry items, Mara's room was filled with natural bamboo, plants of various types, its greenery providing a type of serene-ness that the cresting ocean waves could not.? When the guard entered the room, however, that's where the fantasy began and ended. ? Maya was absolutely domestically challenged.? Her floor was littered about with clothes left where they were dropped.? Stuffed bears and various other plushies were strewn about as if a battle took place and one was now looking upon a place of utter carnage.? The bed was a mess, blankets falling off the sides, pillow likewise on the floor and throw into a corner, sheets in disarray.? To say the least, there was not a care in the world nor a thought spared in keeping anything in a nice orderly fashion, that is however, unless the matter involving said neatness had something to do with business and of that, she kept everything in a meticulous, OCD-like manner.? Not a single page was out of line when it came to documentation and business contracts. ? So, there she stood, arms crossed, looking through the windows in the ocean.? One could tell that Maya was tired, but only one who had the most intimate knowledge of Maya's life and guarded her with theirs.? She always stood rigidly straight, her head held high and shoulders back, her chest jut out in a full display of sex appeal and elegance, and of course, maximum level of confidence.? She seemed so focused on something outside that when the guard entered the room, closing the door, she didn't even flinch nor acknowledge their presence in any way except a side eyed glance in their direction, then back to the ocean. ? "Mayasama, you have a received a letter from X brand make up, giving you a complimentary seven-day cruise in the Bahamas from your last modeling session," the woman guard said, one of Maya's most trusted confidantes.? She read off the rest of the letter, with Maya saying not a word nor moving until the woman finished speaking, finally turning around as a smirk made its way onto her face.? The woman took a deep bow, stretching out her hands above her head as she offered her charge the letterhead. ? "Hmph, took them long enough.? It seems they finally realized how much business the Mononobe name can bring to their business," she huffily said, running her right hand through her long, luscious locks, letting the strands fall back down like a waterfall.? Delicately taking the letter out of her guard's hands, Maya examined it, her eyes moving back and forth as she reread the contents.? The woman then offered her some pamphlets, as thoroughly examined as anything else, as Maya too scanned them through.? "This is the best they could offer?? A tiny "schooner?"? How do they expect that canoe to travel on the ocean?? Ridiculous.? My smallest cruiser is twice is big.? Insulting.¡±? It wasn't until Maya finished that the guard raised her head and straightened out.? She stood at attention, her eyes unblinking and unwavering from her charge's form. "What shall I send back as your answer, Mayasama?" ? Maya sighed and rolled her eyes, loosening her fingers as she let the letter fall down to the floor.? She stepped onto it with her Stuart Weitzman diamond studded heels and rubbed it in, ripping and tearing the letterhead in several place. ? "What else?? If they weren't as reputable as they sell themselves as, I wouldn't even look twice," the heiress scathingly answered, harrumphing as she turned away from the guard and looked back out into the ocean.? "You know what to do.? Now get out of my sight." -------------------- A day and a ride on the Mononobe private jet, Maya finally landed at the Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau.? The wealthy socialite had stepped out into the sun, her Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses resting faithfully upon her nose.? She was clothed in a turquoise, short sleeveless charmeuse dress with gold printed flocked leaves.? On her feet, she wore diamond studded wicker woven D&G wedges, with a single 5 carat sapphire over each ankle strap.? Her hair, which she typically wore loose, cascaded over her back like a black diamond waterfall, its luster was thanks to various deep conditioning creams and masks that she used on a daily basis. ? "Ah, we are finally here...at last.? Now, where is this canoe that I am meant to board?"? Without further ado, Maya's bodyguards took their place beside her, each at her side, tons of luggage in convoy behind them.? The same woman who first presented the letter to Maya just a day ago, came out from behind and handled Maya's entry to the port, as well as arranged transportation to the schooner that was awaiting its passengers.? A couple of hours, after having to hire a single car for her carry-ons alone, the entourage had arrived at the dock to the Seven Sisters schooner.? As the socialite once again stepped out from the cool interior, she froze in place, one arm lowering her glasses as she peered at she was meant to board.? Just as she lifted her sunglasses back up, a ship stewardess had promptly arrived, immediately greeted by Maya's confidante. ? "Good afternoon, and welcome to our port city of Nassau, Ms. Mononobe!? We are so blessed to have been graced with your presence.? Do you have your boarding passes in hand so that we can get you quickly checked in?"? Maya elegantly smiled, taking out the golden ticket out of her clutch, as the confidante and the two bodyguards presented theirs in tune. ? "I am ready and prepared, Ms. Turner, and I am very happy to be here.? With so much business to take care, I felt it that I was overdue for a bit of a vacation.? Don't you think?" Maya answered in fluent English, handing the woman her pass.? "Ms. Saotome here will take over handling all of our check-ins.? Would it be possible to be shown to my cabin now?? I've had a long flight and I would love to settle in before we depart."? The stewardess, now revealed as Ms. Turner, smugly smirked as she snapped her fingers twice and two bellboys appeared by her side, as impeccably dressed as she was. ? "Boys, please show Ms. Mononobe and her lovely entourage to their cabins.? Make sure that she is settled in proper, and give her anything that she needs to be comfortable.? Now, hop to it!"? The youths bowed to Ms. Turner whose face returned back into a relaxed smile as Saotome started the check-in process for everyone.? Another several hours later, Maya was settled in whatever meager settings that they called a luxury cabin, having to spread her clothes out in all 4 rooms that she and her guards have occupied due to the sheer amount of clothes that she had taken with her.? One could never be too careful for any kind of event that could occur, even one that she was meant to relax in.? Once she was done, she stepped onto the deck, walking up to the bow of the ship, gripping the steel barrier as she looked out into the water.? As she turned her head to look over the port, a soft, warm breeze passed through, ruffling Maya's tresses as if they were curtains, like the ones in her Japanese home. ? "Well, I suppose we could learn to enjoy this trip.? It is, after all, paid for by the X brand.? Isn't that so, Higashisan?? What's the worst that could happen?"? Maya looked to the bodyguard that was with her, a thuggish looking man with a scarred face and freshly shaven head.? He looked as if he could snap a tree trunk in half with his bulging muscles. "Yes, Mayasama.? I am sure that this is going to be a pleasant trip.¡± ? (Cat) Cat and Cece had finally arrived at the harbor and the small schooner.? Cat took a moment and reread the letter.? ¡°They have all of this on that?? This is going to be interesting.? Must be more below the water line than we see¡.¡± She paused in her speaking when she saw a few of the passengers.? ¡°Cece, is that the lead of the Primitives or am I seeing things?¡±? Cece looked, ¡°nope, that looks like him.¡±? Cat had to stop herself from squealing and running over to him.? ¡°He is just like everyone else, he¡¯s just like everyone else.¡± She kept repeating as they made their way to the dock and the waiting attendants. ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~ A short time later after their belongings were stowed in their small cabin, the two gals made their way to the top deck and waited to see what was going to happen next and who else they might see on board. |
