Re: Port Vega: Finding Gen. (aka the Russians Strike Back)
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý[Kites] "Gen!! Oh, thank God!" Kites exclaimed, feeling a wave of relief crash over him, much like the ocean that beat against the lighthouse rocks.? Though he had to bend down to even hear her, he smiled when she opened her eyes, gently placing his hand against her cheek, rubbing it with his thumb.? He could tell how much she was struggling to speak, much less open her eyes, with the slightest of actions using up all of her energy.? He felt his heart flutter at her calling his name, but it was very much short lived.? She mentioned lightning...was there a thunderstorm last night?? It didn't seem like there was going to be inclement weather when he was up on the facility's roof.? Too many questions popped up into his head, but now was not the time to ask them.? Gen was in need of help and when she indicated to the top of the lighthouse, he obeyed.? "Okay, let's get you out of these wet clothes and warmed up." He was about to pick her up when a helicopter suddenly appeared in their vicinity.? Kites didn't know how he missed it but when it landed on top of the lighthouse's landing bad, he instinctively crouched over Gen, spreading open his wings to protect the androgyne against the intense buffeting of the air.? It wasn't till the noise stopped and someone came down that Kites opened his wings, startled when Harrison came into view, her arm placed upon his in a silent request to examine Gen.? Though he was wary, he stepped back a bit to let Harrison look her over.? With much effort, Gen opened her eyes again but her expression seemed alarmed.? She too wasn't expecting Harrison much like Kites wasn't, but before any of them could do anything, Gen fell unconscious again. "Gen!"? He was immediately at her side again, arms sliding underneath her back and knees, lifting her up and cradling her against his chest.? She was breathing, her chest rising and falling, but very shallowly.? Standing up, he faced Harrison, his expression stormy and once again conflicted.? The correct action would be to take Gen back, but would it be the right thing to do?? Harrison was ready and waiting, Kites just had to say the word.? He looked back at his lover's face.? None of this would've happened had he not gotten emotional and ran away instead of facing his feelings head on.? It was that regret that was eating away at him now. "I...Thank you for the offer, Ms. Harrison, but I think that the best thing for her right now would be to just rest and recover.? She will be okay.? I will make sure of it," Kites answered, looking back at Harrison with resolve in his eyes.? He had to do right by Gen.? She pleaded for him to come back with her but he effectively refused her, having pushed her away.? He wasn't going to do that this time.? As the androgyne shivered, Kites pressed her closer to his chest, feeling highly protective over her.? "She's soaking wet and ice cold.? I need to get her changed.? Please excuse my rudely leaving."? With that he bowed to the woman, then turned away and jumped off the rock, flying up to the topmost window and then disappearing inside. Kites was glad that it was still morning.? The lighthouse was very well lit from every window that the sun streamed into.? He had no difficulties finding Gen's makeshift bed.? He kicked the covers off, gently laying her down, then set to immediately finding something for her to wear.? Though much of it was strewn about, he was able to find a piece here, a piece there, making sure to sniff each piece to ensure it was fresh enough.? Gen was going to kill him for that, probably, but he didn't want to dress her in something dirty.? After a bit of time, he had her dried, changed and tucked back in, sliding into the covers with her.? He covered her with his wing, cocooning her with the warmth of his down.? Propping himself up with his elbow, he gripped both her hands with his hand whcih was much larger than hers and brought it to his lips, kissing her knuckles.? He pressed her hands to his chest, splaying her fingers over his heart as he covered them with his own. "I'm so sorry, Gen...for all of this.? None of this would've happened had I acted smarter...not the emotional, immature idiot that I am..."? Shutting up, he continued looking over her, making sure to watch for her breathing. [Harrison] Harrison went back to the chopper and left. (Exit Harrison) (Gen) Gen was dimly aware of being lifted up and then carried. And then going up further still, the sound of large feathered wings filling the air. And of that chopping sound starting up again but then fading away. The brightness through her eyelids abruptly faded as she was carried inside the lighthouse.? She was laid on a bed - her bed? - and then someone was changing her clothes and drying her off.? She was still too dazed and weakened to resist, but her instincts weren't warning her of danger. Someone was talking to her. Babbling, really. That same familiar voice.? Kites? With an effort, the androgyne opened her eyes a bit. It was easier this time, now that she wasn't out where the sun was shining.? It took her a moment to focus on the face hovering over hers. "Kites." It was him.? She hadn't been sure earlier, but apparently she hadn't imagined it.? "What... what're you doing... here?"? Talking was taking a lot of concentration. And energy.? She felt so drained.? And... hungry?? Things began to click together in her head. "Food," Gen managed, trying to find his eyes with hers.? "Need... food.? Body... fixing itself.? Needs food."? She moved her head slightly, recognizing the room in the lighthouse that she'd taken over for herself, then looked back to Kites.? "Food here... somewhere.? Get me some... please?" ?
