- Mikayla -

Mikayla concentrated. Her mind hearing Angus but she was so focused she did not respond. However, she did feel the words of praise...encouragement moving through her spirit pushing her forward.?

She saw vivid color and felt keenly everything she was doing. She had one task. She had no intention of stopping until that task was completely. In fact, Mikayla was so focused on her task, she stood at the books for hours. Ignoring natural bodily necessities such as food or sleep and everything else.?

She didn’t know if Angus had stayed the whole time or if her had come and gone. She has no concept of seconds...minutes or hours...only the work...

Several hours later. She stopped. Drained...looking up from the book she looked at the table and frowned. No tea cup. Nothing. Feeling dejected, Mikayla felt extremely tired. Moving to the tiny cot within the room, Mikayla has just enough energy to strip off her dress to her chemist before exhaustion took her under.?

Mikayla had no idea that down within the kitchen, appearing on the table was a mug, and fork/spoon combination large enough for The Dragon to take tea and eat in the civilized manner she saw that he wanted to.

"Mistress Mikayla?" Angus said softly, wanting to wake her but not startle her.? When her eyes flickered open, the man bowed then set the tray he was carrying on the nearby table.? "I didn't want to wake you, but I thought you might be getting hungry about now.? It's mid-morning." He smiled as he began uncovering some dishes on the tray, letting the aroma of freshly cooked eggs, sausage and toast fill the air.

"You apparently had quite an exhausting day," he went on, opening small jars of honey and jam and setting them to the side.? "Which you may be surprised to learn was the day before yesterday.? You were quite dead to the world all day yesterday.? The Master said to let you rest, however, and not to wake you.? But seeing as how it's a new day already, I thought I would take a chance and see if you were recovered. And, as I said, to see if you were hungry."

When all was ready, Angus bowed again and retreated to the door respectfully.? His manner had always been deferential, but today it seemed particularly so.? "If you are feeling up to it," he said, pausing in the doorway, "the Master would very much like to have you join him for tea this afternoon.? I believe he wishes to... to discuss your rather remarkable progress."? The man looked like he wanted to say more but his tongue was held by discretion. "If you need anything, just call out and I will come."? With that, he bowed a final time and withdrew from the room, closing the door behind him. ?
