Re: The Door Between Two Worlds [Roue and Rabbit] (closed)

(Rabbit)

"Midgard's another w-world?" Rabbit said, looking only slightly surprised. "There must've been a, uhm, you know, d-door that opened up for you there. I know that, uhm, that h-happens sometimes, but you're the first person I've met here who came through one of 'em." He hesitated a moment, then quickly amended his statement. "At least you're the f-first one who's openly said they did."

The little vampire couldn't help but notice the elf apparently being bothered by the place on his wrist where Rabbit had 'kissed' him during their frenzied coupling. He frowned slightly, peering at the bothersome spot.? There was no visible sign of anything, not even a hint of a scar, which meant Rabbit had done a proper job of licking the wound closed and concealing what he'd done. But nonetheless, Roue seemed to sense that _something_ had happened there. And the feeling apparently grew stronger when he took Rabbit's hand in his own.

"An elf noble from the... m-mage city of, uhm, Geffen?... and the world of Rune M-Midgard?" Rabbit repeated, looking baffled.? It all sounded like something from a fantasy novel, but he kept the thought to himself.? He couldn't resist asking at least one question though.? "Does that, uhm, mean you can, you know, do m-magic? I know some people can, you know, do it.? But I'm not one of 'em."

"This place?" he asked, gesturing at the surrounding club.? "I thought I told you.? It's the D-Dionysus Club.? It... it's a place, a very special place.? It exists everywhere, but, uhm, not anywhere?? It's... it's b-between," he said, shrugging helplessly.? "At least that's how it was explained to me.? It has doors that can open to just about anywhere anyone'd w-wanna go. If they know how to find them, that is. And it's a place that anyone can, uhm, you know, c-come to, if'n they need to.? But most of the time you gotta know where to l-look."? The little vampire chewed on his lip.? "In your case, the club must've s-sense you were in some kinda trouble and made a door appear for you.? That happens sometimes."

"Who am I?" Rabbit looked thoughtful for a moment.? "Since you're not, uhm, you know, from here, there's not a lot I could t-tell you that would make much, uhm, sense. But it's not that, uhm, important, really.? I'm n-not anyone special or important or nothin'.? I'm just, uhm, a k-kid who ran away from home and got turned into a v-vampire is all." His young face screwed up in thought at what he'd just said.? "Outside the club, that'd, uhm, be somethin'.? But in here, it's nothin' s-special.? R-really!"

"How do I fit in here? It's not c-complicated.? I help out, you know, with the g-guests 'n stuff.? And the boss let's me stay here.? It... it's safe here." Rabbit smiled a little.? "I like it here.? You meet all k-kinds of people. And most've 'em are pretty n-nice. And nobody really c-cares what you are as long as you, you know, b-behave yourself and don' try to t-trick nobody."

"The next part is, uhm, complicated.? Technically, I'm not supposed to, uhm, t-tell anyone about it.? But that's in the, uhm, world. Here it's different.? So I guess I can t-tell you." Rabbit fidgeted awkwardly on his stool, feeling very self-conscious.? "A v-vampire is someone who, uhm, has to have blood to survive.? I mean like in, uhm, f-feedin' on it.? That spot on your wrist that keeps t-tinglin'?? It's probably doin' that because that's where I, uhm, k-kinda fed on you when we were, you know, d-doin' it."? His face felt flushed, even if it really wasn't, from embarrassment.? "I know I sh-should'n have, but you got me so w-worked up, I couldn' resist.? And I don' know why you can feel it.? You ain' supposed to be able to feel it, not after I licked it proper and h-healed you up again."? The little vampire dropped his eyes, looking like he wanted to drop straight through the floor.? "P-please don' hate me."

[Roue]

"Wait, do you mean I'm the first person that came through a door in Midgard that you know of?" Roue asked incredulously, staring back at his host with wide eyes.? "A-are you saying that there could be others from my world here?? Or was I the first to step through a door, any door, into this place?"? He wanted, no, needed to get that clarification.? Just thinking about the possibility of Midgardians having found this place and left his world...perhaps to never come back, perhaps to return only much wiser and more learned about the ways of the universe was electrifying.? The world that he knew, as small as it has seemed before, now just had expanded tenfold and every answer that he got bore two more questions in its wake.? But he wanted to show off too, to show Rabbit what he was capable of so when the smaller..."vampire"...asked him about it, he couldn't hold back.

"Magic, yes...? Those who have shown the aptitude for elemental control are typically sent to the mage academy, myself included.? Though being an elf gives me a one-up on most beginners in this craft.? Our race is naturally attuned to this chaotic energy, and studying it further allows us to hone this so that we can shape the world to our will," Roue explained, looking back at his table guest.? "However, whether magic can be weaved depends on the concentration of chaos around you.? Very little of it means not much can be done...there could be places with magical starvation, natural or artificial.? This place seems to be rich in it, though.? I can feel it.? The fact that this exists between worlds as you explained is a testament to that."

Without further adieu, Roue grabbed hold of the napkin that the waitress left behind with his waters.? His eyes began to glow with a soft blue hue as he concentrated upon the corner of the cloth.? At first, the tip began to smoke as the edges slowly turned black, but then shortly after a flame sparked to life, eating at the fraying fibers around it.? Placing it into an empty cup, he left the fire continue to consume its host as he freed his hands, pointing his index fingers at each other.? In a split second, a little zap of static electricity arched between his fingers and disappeared, leaving a slightly tingling feeling behind.? Looking around, he tried to find something with which he could demonstrate the earth powers, spotting a piece of stray fruit peel, orange from the looks of it, which he bent down and picked up.? He placed it upon the table and placed his hands atop it.? He clenched his jaw then moved his hands away, revealing that the previously colorful peel now has turned gray and ashen, stiff as a board when he took it into his hands and easily broke into halves when he applied some pressure.? Lastly, the elf took hold of a cup of water, taking a sip to cleanse his parched throat.? Right before he put it down, however, he draw his right hand over his mouth and as he parted his lips, he let loose a quick breath of arctic air upon the surface of the drink as it suddenly turned translucent, opaque as the effect cascaded down until the liquid had completely frozen solid.? Placing the cup onto the table with a clink, he pushed it towards Rabbit so that he could see the proof of it himself.

"I wouldn't say you are not important, Rabbit.? You are able to exist in this in-between world, are you not?? We all have our place in the world, even me, even if I don't belong," he said the last part a bit bitterly, looking away for a second.? "But I am quite curious about you.? You say you need blood to survive...how do you get it?? Do you have willing participants...or do you partake much like you did with me?"? Internally, he had to admit that he suddenly felt inflamed about thinking that, but it was not place.? Not with someone whom he's just barely met.? It was inappropriate and he wasn't going to say a bit about that.? "Is that...is that why you refused to kiss me...at that time?? Because you could've bitten me?"? His own cheeks flushed this time, but he had to know.
