She blushed at his compliment. “I think you are just saying that because you know I am indebted to you for all you have done for me.” Her voice tailed. He had done so much hadn’t he. He had rescued her from a man who was suppose to love her but didn’t.?

Lucas didn’t love her...not at all. He was simply using her...for what money? Her father's money.?

“Of course,” she said absentmindedly . Her thoughts everywhere. Was it possible that Andrew was doing this for money too? She was obviously a terrible judge of character. Maybe she was wrong about him too.

“Why are you doing this.” She said turning to face him. “Why are you helping me?”?

"Why?" Andrew said as Evone' turned to face him.? He looked down, then took her hands in his.? "Because I wronged you by my actions when I agreed to undertake your abduction. I need to make that right." Before she could say anything, the Captain of the Elusive hurried on, his fingers clasping hers as if need them to secure himself.? "I did not know you at the time, but even so, it was wrong of me.? I thought only of the money it would bring which I needed for my crew and my ship.? And for that, I am sorry and I will do everything in my power to make amends."

"But those are the reasons a gentleman might give.? As a man, I have another reason."? He raised his head so that their eyes met once again.? "In the time we were together, I came to love you, Evone'.? I love you more than I think I have ever loved anyone, and I very much want to earn your good regard. And if possible, your love.? You are as precious to me as the Elusive itself," he said, bowing to kiss her hands, "and that is very precious indeed."

"I am the captain of my ship," Andrew stated, straightening up again and looking at her with utter seriousness, "but you are the captain of my heart and the star I now steer by.? You have but to say the words and there we shall go."
