Mikayla never made it far. Just to the stairs near the front door before she sat down and cried. He wanted her to leave¡ it seemed so unfair.?When Angus arrived she wiped her eyes and tried to be strong. ¡°Of course he needs me. He needs me to do his bidding. And since I can¡¯t. He has threatened to kick me out. I refused to be used Angus. It¡¯s not fair to me. He was the one who brought me here. I didn¡¯t ask to come.

Inside the keep where the dragon waited, the little purple light appeared again.

The Dragon was too distraught at first to notice the appearance of the little purple light in the chamber.? But its presence was felt nonetheless, drawing his attention.? It was familiar somehow, though he couldn't say how.? Or why.? He took a step toward it, only to have it retreat, moving out of the chamber and into the adjoining hallway. Following after it, he felt his surroundings grow fuzzy and indistinct, until it felt like he was moving through a dream.? And it seemed like he could hear a voice, soft and soothing, calling him on.? A voice he knew somehow.? A name surfaced in his memory.? "Jerusha... Jerusha..."

"No, Mistress!"? Angus gasped, out of breath.? "He doesn't want you to leave.? He very much wants you to stay.? But he doesn't want you to stay as a captive or as a prisoner.? He... he cares about you you.? Enough to free you, even if it means he stays this way forever!"
