Misty looked at Lightening Rod, "you're joking, right? Showing off is no way to impress Aurora, or anyone for that matter. And as for Ms. Mara there, whom you keep staring at, forget it. You're not her type." With that she went to eating her meal realizing that he wasn't interested in her the way she was in him.
Aurora looked at Photon and heard the way he answered and knew something was not right. She didn't press the issue. She finished her meal as everyone is did.
After the main meal dishes were gathered and then Aurora stood up. "While we wait for dessert to be served, I will speak. For the new comer, Lightening Rod at this point, as Devi has decided to leave us." She paused to gather her thoughts before continuing. "Before you are made an official member of The Benders of Light, you have to earn your spot. What do I mean by this." She stepped out from behind the table and started walking around the others who were sitting.?
"You earn your place in the Benders of Light by recruiting others. I found Jordie, who in turn brought in Liza. Liza recruited Misty." She stopped behind Misty and gently laid her hands on the girl's shoulders. "Congratulations Misty, tonight you become an official member as you were the one to seek Lightening Rod out and set up the meeting."
Misty smiled and was glad to be an official member. Aurora continued, "I do have others out in the field whose main job is to recruit and find others as they have talents to do so. Now, Lightening Rod. If you were not aware that all of us in this room had abilities, would you be able to tell?" She reminded behind Misty and next to Roddy to await his answer.

The waitstaff removed all the plates from the table, including the numerous dishes that were piled up like mountains around the snake woman. Though she did have fangs that folded up into her mouth, her mouth was still lined with the same pearly whites as any other human, reaching for and chewing on a toothpick as she worked on picking out all the little bits of meat and other fare stuck in-between each tooth.? Every now and then her tongue flicked out, tasting the air so to speak.? Something was wrong though.? Photon seemed to be antsy and Aurora picked up on it, as Mara picked up on the other two.? Misty seemed pleased now, but the boy calling him Lightning Rod seemed to be disgruntled.? Even she seemed to be under some intense scrutiny by the young blood who seemed to be unable to look away from her.? If he was sizing her up, well, he was barking up the wrong tree.? As much as she wanted to act disinterested, "Roddy" keeping his sights aimed at her was starting to become irritating.
(Lightning Rod)
"Well," Roddy said, pulling his attention away from Mara and towards Aurora, "I don't have any special power for knowing if other people have secret powers.? So probably not for most of you."? He hesitated, glancing at Mara and her all too obvious reptilian features.? His impulse was to point that out, but some instinct told him that that would probably be a disastrously bad idea, so he stifled the impulse and looked back to Aurora, amending his statement with a mumbled "Not for any of you, really."
Turning to Misty, he whispered a hopeful "Was that better?" Even as clueless as he generally was, Roddy was getting the feeling that he'd messed up with the woman whom he might end up being partnered with.? "Oh, and congrats as well. On being made a full Bender and all." He frowned slightly at a thought.? "Does that mean I have to recruit someone too if I wanna be a full Bender?? I don't think I know any super-types, except for that winged freak I took out."

He rather liked Lightning Rod himself, would he hesitate to have Mara eat him like Jade from Mortal Kombat and spit out his bones.? He kinda liked that idea if the boy ever screwed up royally.? ?He would put the stipulation in that he would have to see her do it.? He wouldn't do that to Mara he rather liked her too.? He listened to his heart speak about how to become a member of their troop.? When Mara was made official he winked at her as if he had snapped out of some deep thinking.? ?He had but he told Aurora he would always be there for her, he couldn't be distracted right now.? But 'treehouse', why there?? His mind only focused on the moment he had to keep his head in the game.? He had his duty to his team, this family right now and yet he felt nervous...less about who he was meeting but more about the significance of the place he was going too.? He swore he felt a chill up his spine, he wasn't sure where it had come from but it was there...he was hot blooded...he didn't do chills...what was going on?? ?
He heard the tail end of what Roddy said.? 'winged freak', why did that stand out for what he said?? He didn't think about that right now.? He had to take care of here.?
