?(Gen)
Gen was only dimly
aware when the search-and-rescue team Chord's HQ sent out arrived.? Two of
them, an older man named Simmons who was apparently a doctor and a middle-aged
woman named Macamber with a security feel to her, stayed with her as the rest
began searching the area.
?
The doctor began
checking her for injuries as the security woman asked about what had
happened.? She told them everything she could about what she'd seen and
heard, but it was like hearing someone else answering their questions.?
Inside, she just felt numb.? She didn't resist as they bundled her into
one of the helicopters that had come, and soon she was being flown back to the
HQ.? Once there, they escorted her to a meeting room and told her to wait
there.? She heard the door lock itself as soon as they left the room, but
didn't care.? Where would she go, after all?
?
(NPC Macamber)
Macamber took up a
position just outside the door to the meeting room, then called her team.?
"Those of you not currently engaged in the search-and-rescue, fan out and
find all members of that team Mister Chord had assembled, and then bring them
here."? She then sent a text message to the individual team members:?
"There's been an incident.? All of you please return to Chord HQ and
report to Meeting Room C-15 without delay.? I will brief you when you all
arrive."
(Kites)
It felt like Kites had
fallen asleep and was dreaming, the scenes flashing before his eyes an
amalgamation of the whole day.? None of it made sense.? People,
places, voices were all mixed up, jumbled and yet melding together, leaving the
winged youth in a panic and cold sweats when he finally woke up with a
startle.? It took him a couple of seconds to understand just what had
happened and where he was, looking around as his heart beat rapidly against his
rib cage.? When the realization that he was still in the facility hit him,
Kites was both relieved and anguished at the same time, palming his face as he
brushed his hair out of his face.? He slid to the edge of the bed, elbows
on knees, leaning his forehead against his fists as he tried to gained some
semblance of control over the tumultuous feelings that churned inside.
?
After what felt like
hours, but was probably just minutes, Kites stood up and crossing his arms has
surveyed the room.? Promises, promises, but after what happened with Gen
as well the conversation with Chord, what was there to keep him from leaving
anymore?? Chord dressed him down and told him to step down.? Harrison
was sure to be most disappointed in him as well.? Neither Brandon nor Kat
were here, nor would he have a clue where to even start looking for them.?
This was miserable.? He was miserable, but this wasn't a place that he
felt that he belonged to anymore, so he started packing.? There wasn't
much.? He came with almost nothing and was going to leave with nothing.?
No loss, no gain, it was better than leaving with debt.? But the words
that he said, the promise that floated to the forefront of his mind, were a
heavy thing in his heart indeed.
?
Just as Kites finished
checking everything, he suddenly got a text on his watch.? The watch that
Raine gave him, and the one he'd have to return since he no longer belonged
here.? Bringing his wrist up, he tapped the display and the message
floated up.??There's been an incident.??There's been an
incident.? There's been an incident.? The winged youth paled and
for a moment he thought his heart stopped beating.? His body reacted
before his mind did.? Throwing on the same training outfit from before,
since it was closest and sitting right there on the chair, he was out of the
room at the speed of light, diving through the living room and spam pressing
the elevator button to go up, foot tapping, nails scraping against his skin as
he impatiently waited for the elevator to come down.
?
"Ugh, why doesn't
this supposedly state of the art facility not have a flying hangar, for
crissakes?? I would've been there already!" Kites muttered to
himself, biting his lips.? At last, the elevator appeared.?
"Finally!!? Go, go, go! C'mon!"? He pressed the appropriate
floor button, but as if the devil himself was having fun, the doors closed ever
so slowly, the floor felt as if it fell out from under him with the speed of
molasses, as he paced the interior, looking at the door with every passing
second until at last the doors opened and he all but flew to meeting room C-15.?
He felt so out of breath, coming up to the woman who seemed to be guarding the
door, eyeing the newcomer.
?
"Uh, hi...I'm
um...Kites, one of the recruits here.? I just got this alarming
message.? Am..am I the first one here?" Kites asked, eyes wild and
wide opened.? Gen was still at the light house when he left...this
couldn't...this couldn't be about her, could it?? He felt like he was
almost going to faint, heart threatening to jump out of his throat as he wanted
for the woman to address him.
(Mia)
Mia had just finished
cleaning up her breakfast dishes when she received the text.? Wondering
what was going on and where the higher ups were she made her way to the
conference room. With a smile and a wave she stepped through the door to find
Kites there already.? She sat a couple of chairs down knowing Gen and Kat
would probably want to sit by him.
"Good morning
Kites. Left some space for the others. Any idea what is going on?"
(Brandon)
?
?Brandon
wanted to spend the night with Kat but he didn¡¯t, she was still in his room
when he left to go see the one person that had always been there for him.? He knew what she said but he was Brandon,
emotional and totally stubborn in his ideas of what he thought was right.? He went to her room, he knocked on the door,
he knocked again.? He put his hand on the
doorknob and with a quick pulse of energy it opened.? He walked around his sister¡¯s room, since she
was not there and he let himself in.? She
had been his first love, he looked around the room, seeing the pictures she
kept he smiled and he waited.? Minutes
passed then hours, he texted and just assumed she was being stubborn, sometimes
all of his apologies fell on deaf ears.
?
He told her he loved her, he would never
abandon her or leave her for another.?
She was always there for him and he didn¡¯t care what she said he
wouldn¡¯t give up on her¡ever.
?
?Her
launching into him hurt more than that of his father sometimes, more than the
cold emotionless shoulder of Harrison when she got tired of his whining.? Sure he was quick to bear the weight of the
moment as he felt like it was all his fault, if he would be better do better he
would be accepted by his family, be seen in a better light if he just took it
all made himself that punching bag from the crap that life kept throwing at
him.? It was simply more that he didn¡¯t
know how to fight back fairly, everything was clearly not his fault, there were
sometimes that things just happened.
?
? He laid
on her bed a part of him wanted to cry at the thought of losing Ireland or disappointing
her again.? The pain of her lost was
already devastating to him, sometimes he wondered if he would simply be better
off¡dead!? But again that was the
weakness in him talking.
?
?It was
late when he heard the commotion, his heightened senses kicked in and he sat up
and then walked to the door.
?
It was early morning as he looked at his watch
passed midnight for sure but there was a flurry of activity.? The message of their being an incident
flashed over his watch and his phone.?
Report to the briefing room, the team..?
¡®What the?¡¯
He didn¡¯t even try to take the stairs he just
hopped over the rail and with a burst of speed flew to that level and landed.
He didn¡¯t know something was going on and despite what he thought¡there was a
foreboding sense of dread that even he couldn¡¯t shake.? It wasn¡¯t like Ireland to ignore him for this
long, even for her being mad at him there was normally¡I don¡¯t know something?
?
?¡°What
going on?!?¡±? He said as he looked at the
woman, not Chord¡his father or his mother that raised him Harrison.? It was clearly not a request.? His eyes narrowed in the direction of the
facility security chief.? ¡°What
happened?!?¡±
