John Younger who married Ann Moss

I have two old studio photographs belonging to the YOUNGER Family of Illinois. The first is identified as Nellie YOUNGER at the age of 18 years. This photograph was taken at the Fenwick Studio in Bloomington, IL. The second photograph is identified as photograph of Maggie YOUNGER which was taken at the Thomas Mills Studio in Peoria, IL in the 1870's with Maggie likely in her 20's at the time it was taken. I am not sure how the two are related but since they were found together, I know that there is a connection. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding these two young women: Helen “Nellie” YOUNGER was b. 6 Nov 1866 in Illinois to parents Thomas William YOUNGER (1830-1907) and Elizabeth EDWARDS (1835-1869). Nellie was one of 6 children born to this couple including Thomas William “Bill”; John; Andrew; Flora or Florance; Mary Elizabeth; and Nellie YOUNGER, all born between 1857 and 1865. The family was living in Peoria, IL in 1870. After her mother died her father married Sarah NOFSINGER (1838-1891) and a son Charles Guy YOUNGER was born in 1874. Margaret “Maggie” YOUNGER was b. 29 Jun 1854 in Renfrew, Scotland to parents Andrew YOUNGER (1827-1915) and Margaret S. HAMER (1828-1899). Maggie was one of 7 children born to this couple including Mary; Julia Ann; Maggie; Thomas William; Andrew; Joseph Hamer; and Ellen YOUNGER all born between 1849 and 1870. In 1870 the family was living in Peoria, IL. Maggie married Thomas Marshall LONG (1854-1900) in Sacramento, CA in 1881 and they had 5 children including Emma Marion or Marian; Andrew Younger; Jessica “Jerdie” E.; Hiram Chester; and Russell or Russel Thomas LONG, all born between 1881 and 1890. Maggie was living in Oakland, CA in 1920 and died 13 Dec 1927 in San Francisco, CA and her obituary listed her surviving children including Marion L. STEBBINS; Jessica I. HAWLEY; Hiram C. LONG; and Russell I. LONG; and her surviving siblings, Andrew YOUNGER and Josephine YOUNGER. I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that these wonderful old studio photographs can be returned to the care of family. BIGELOW - GAGE - YOUNGER Family Photograph
I've recovered an old photograph of Mary Eugenia Katharine BIGELOW and Irene Gage BIGELOW which was taken at the Selby Studio in Baltimore, MD in 1914. The two girls appear to be about 2-9 years old at the time the photograph was taken. They are also referred to as "Rene and Maida BIGELOW" and "Jim BIGELOW Father" on the photograph. Based on limited research and thanks to family researchers I was able to gather this information regarding the girls and their family: Mary Eugenia Katharine BIGELOW was b. 3 Oct 1903 in Maryland to parents James Alphred BIGELOW (1873-1943) and Grace F. GAGE (1875-1951). Irene Gage BIGELOW was her only sibling. The family was living in Edesville, MD when the girls were in their teens. Mary married John L. PIERCE and they had a son, John L. PIERCE born in 1926. Mary died 9 Aug 1986 in Virginia Beach, VA. Irene “Rene” Gage BIGELOW was b. 13 Jun 1911 in Rock Hall, MD and married twice. Irene’s first marriage was to Robert Harvey FREUND (1910-1960) in 1937 in Baltimore, MD and they had one son, James Robert FREUND. Her second marriage was to Clarence Scott ANDERS (1915-1998) who she married on 3 Jul 1971 in Baltimore, MD. Irene died 29 Nov 2002 in Salisbury, PA. At the time of her death her son James was living in Fogelsville, PA, though he may have later moved to Orefield, PA. Their father James “Jim” Alphred BIGELOW was b. 20 Feb 1873 in Maryland to parents John Whorter “Walter” BIGELOW (1841-1910) and Hannah Ann TOULSON (1848-1923). James was one of 7 children born to this couple including Mary Elizabeth; James Alphred; Hannah Anna; Charles W.; Sara Emma; Walter Pierson; and Elma Rebecca BIGELOW, all born between 1871 and 1887. Jim died 13 Oct 1946 in Kent County, MD and is buried in the Saint Paul’s Kent Churchyard Cemetery in Chestertown, MD. His daughter Mary was living in Long Island, NY at the time of her father’s death. In 1920 the girls were living in Baltimore, MD with cousins Mary J. and Ella K. YOUNGER and possibly an Aunt Mary E. Pittsylvania, VA Youngers
Anyone researching the family of John Younger 1797-1883 who married Lucy Elizabeth Jones in 1829 in Pittsylvania, VA on this list? They were the parents of at least 9 children all born there, and they both died there although I haven’t been able to find their burial locations. Most likely on their own land is my guess. Have any of you researched this line? John mar. Ann Moss 11/30/1757 at Goochland, they had a son, Samuel 1770-1840 who mar. Mary Ashley 1765-1840, they had a son, William Ashley 1790-1860, he marr. Catherine Phelps 1785-1848. John and Ann Moss were also the parents of Elizabeth who married Richard Fulcher; Mary who married Jesse Grubbs; Susannah who mar. John Phelps, Jr.; John Smith Younger, Jane who mar. Nathan Dabney; and Samuel mentioned above. I have not been able to connect the John ca. 1735 to parents. Hello All, I am from the Alexander and Rebecca Mills Younger line. I have been working on my family tree for many years now, and have collected a lot of information on my own line, plus quite a bit on other lines, mainly trying to see if I could find a connection to mine. I live in Lodi, Calif. and because I'm passed the age of being able to travel easily, I do most of my research online. I have done DNA testing on my brother (to get the male line) and myself, hoping to break down my biggest brick wall....discovering my maternal grandfather's name and his ancestral line.
