suggested format for naming interests
In order to separate out SURNAME interests from other material could we have a dedicated hashtag (called e.g. "INTERESTS") and use subject title in the style of NAME, AREA , DATE RANGE with a standard separator. Example Subjects : MAN(N) : RYEDALE: to 1800 NICHOLSON : RYEDALE: to 1800 This should allow relatively sifting of received emails to those most relevant

Hi All, Fancy seeing you here! One downside (for me) of the change is that I was already subscribed to Groups i.o. but with a different email address, so I'm her under that alias. It's still me though! Here's to a sucessful productive group & hopefully moving to a new platform may bring in more members. Thanks fo all your hard work Lin. Lesley Colwyn Bay

SCOTT, Robert b. 1883 BOLDRON, Startforth
Hello All, Congratulations to Lin Duke for getting us up and running. We have I am sure missed the regular digest mails from Rootsweb Yorkshire. I am trying to trace my Grandfather killed in 1916 in WWI. I am still after many years struggling to locate his birthplace and to confirm it. He moved in his early work to Co. Durham. to the Bishop Auckland area but before that may even have been born in Bolden near to Gateshead. Any help with this would be wonderful at the start of a new decade. Sincerely, Jonah

SPEIGHT and DRAKE of West Yorkshire
Good morning List, and thank you so much, Lin, for the work you have put into creating a new group - much appreciated. I'm research the SPEIGHT and DRAKE families of Bingley/Shipley, West Yorkshire. My quest is to find a birth and/or baptism for two children born in Yorkshire to Thomas SPEIGHT and Martha DRAKE, namely Samuel and Alice. Thomas SPEIGHT, born 28 Dec 1801 in Bingley, West Yorkshire, emigrated to North America in 1828. He is the only SPEIGHT appearing on the Passenger List of Vessels Arriving at New York aboard the Brig Lunar so Martha and sons John, Samuel and daughter Alice may have arrived after Thomas settled in Markham, Ontario Canada c 1830. I did find the baptism for John (b 15 Dec 1822 in Shipley, baptized in the parish church 30 March 1823 in Bingley) but I'm unable to find same for Samuel and Alice. Census and marriage records suggest that Samuel; was born c 1824-25; according to the 1901 Canadian census Alice was born 8 January 1827 but I'd really like to be able to confirm that through a baptismal register if one exists. (Thomas and Martha's other children (James, Michael, Thomas, Joseph, Henry, William B. and Martha were all born in Canada.) Thanks for any suggestions you might have regarding the births of Samuel and Alice. Cheers, Diane

Walker, Harper, Richardson, Beilby, Clark
I'm so relieved that this group will continue. So far I've not found any "cousins" but hope springs eternal. Walker, Harper, Richardson, Beilby, Clark late 1700's all in the Seaton Ross, Holm Upon Spaulding Moor, Beilby, Market Weighton areas of East Riding Bailey & Emery in 1600's Almondsbury & Huddlesford West Riding. I'm not spending time on this right now because it's too long ago and I have more important fish to fry. Of course if I can get more information I will do a happy dance. Possibly Ward in Yorkshire. Probably Bef. 1700 It's still a stumbling block at this time. -- Toni in Iowa USA
