Quaker burials Camp Lane Court, Leeds
Hi Listers,
Is there anywhere I could find online a index for the Quaker burial ground called Camp Lane Court Leeds. I have a death for Josiah WILSON buried September 1824 and said birth same year. His mother Mary WILSON was buried there in 1825. His father was also Josiah WILSON and he was a grocer. Thanks, Maureen in Oz. |

FARRER
Hi Listers,
I am trying to find the death of Benjamin FARRER who was baptised 1803 in Bradford Church his parents were John and Hannah FARRER. Benjamin’s father John wrote a will in 1824 (died 1825) and mentions all his children except Benjamin so I assume he died between 1803 - 1824 but cant find anything. I have found the other childrens birth in Quakers Registration in Brighouse. Thanks, Maureen |

FARRER
Hi Listers,
I am trying to track down Benjamin FARRER b.1803 to John FARRER and Hannah in Bradford. I wonder if anyone has parish records as cant find him anywhere in the usual onsite websites. His father died in 1825 and left a will and mentioned his children but not Benjamin, so maybe he might have died by then. Thanks, Maureen in Oz. |

Maureen No, Leeds and Bradford, although not far apart, are two separate cities. Sue On Sat, 21 Sep 2024, 16:03 Maureen Farrer via , <maureenfarrer71=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Thanks Sue,Have searched through Ancestry, but come up with nothing except Joseph’s christening. Also have found records for various people and they were from Bradford, but various records said St.Peters Leeds, so is that the same name as St.Peters Bradford ? Maureen

Hi Maureen
Ancestry have the parish registers, which include baptisms, for Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral) from 1596 & Bradford, Wibsey Chapel from 1674. There was no civil registration of births prior to July 1837.

Tracing merchant seamen in the 19th century
Trying to trace a merchant seaman in the later parts of the 19th century is fairly difficult. There are no records of service, ‘pouches’, or central records. If you know the name of ship, then you can trace their service back through crew lists and agreements but otherwise you need to consider other avenues. ? Fortunately, for officers, there are registers of certificates for masters and mates. These give certificate number, date and place of birth and date and place of where certified. They also give details of voyages. ? These records are now searchable on Discovery by name, details of birth or certification. This is thanks to our offsite volunteers.? ?
