Yiddish was widely spoken in Europe for years after World War II. ? Few people know that in a number of towns throughout Ukraine and Moldova,? Jewish families continued speaking Yiddish and observing Jewish traditions? well into the 1970s. In fact, former Forverts editor Boris Sandler grew up in? a town like this. “Shtetlers,” a new documentary that tells the story, will be? screened from January 24-29 at the New York Jewish film festival, which? this year takes place entirely online. The film is in Russian, Ukrainian,? English and Yiddish with English subtitles.?
