The best bird of the morning so far was a Bonaparte's Gull, (basic plumage} swimming on either side of the North shore boat dock ramp area, near a ring-bill. Also of interest, Yellow-headed blackbirds and a Merlin and a couple dozen nice Eared Grebes in breeding plumage.?

Locked Re: Willow Lake

Watson Lake yesterday morning (in bitter wind) had Eared Grebes close to the west dock, a very tame Greater White-fronted Goose, the long-present American White Pelican right next to the shore, Blue-winged Teal, and a pair of Vermilion Flycatchers among the 54 species observed there.

Locked Harris's Hawk, Lawrence:s Goldfinch

I found the hawk this morning in Watson Woods. It? was flying straight south from the lake toward the parkway bridge, straight overhead.? The Lawrence's was in the grasses about 150 yards south of the Prescott lakes parkway bridge, viewed from the trail that angles to the west towards a group of three cottonwoods . It was a nice bright male, of course it could be anywhere in those grasses now.??

We heard a strange bird song on Willow this morning. Sent your email to Karen to see what she thinks. Nice bird!

Locked Leucistic Red-tailed Hawk at Camp Verde CBC

Sorry for the late posting: I had an almost completely white Red-tailed Hawk fly over me and land high up in a cottonwood tree in my CBC territory and the edge of the circle adjacent to Jackpot Ranch on the Yavapai Apach Reservation. Sorry for the rushed quality of the pics. It bolted 3 seconds after I aimed my iPhone camera at it!

Locked Sightings Around Town

Today's morning outing, the annual Prescott Audubon start-the-year field trip, turned up a number of good birds. We had White-throated Sparrow along the Peavine, foraging with White-crowned Sparrows, near the power line marsh area.? In the grassy field at Watson Lake Park, grazing with 70 Canada Geese, was one Greater White- fronted Goose, and flying over Willow and landing in the water was one Snow Goose. A juvenile. Also at Willow were the three Tundra Swans and the American White Pelican.?

Cassin's Vireo. NE of the latter, closer to the lake along the old "road." Around 10:10 AM.

There were 28 American White?Pelicans soaring over Watson Woods south of the lake this morning at about 10:30 am.? They seemed to head south.
