Working On A Bowser PRR Decapod

Hello list,

I hope all of you have recovered from turkey-induced sleepiness. :)

I spent a bit of yesterday and today working on my rendition of surviving PRR I1sa 4483.? I had previously added a decoder and gotten the engine running well with a 130F82a tender (also known as Bowser's 13,000 gallon tender).? I still have to get the right side air pump mounted vertically (I see now there's a bit of a slant) and I have some filing to do to get the cab backplate to fit properly, but I now have proper power for my PRR mineral trains.??

Some notes on her tender follow.??

- When I started building the model (in the late 1990s), I detailed the kit to represent 4483 as she looked in the late steam era.? I first used a Bowser/Varney USRA tender (which slightly resembles the 90F82 that 4483 is paired with today), and then I purchased a resin tender kit which I could not get running properly.??
- In the late steam era (1952-1957 in this context on the PRR), there were only around four 130F82a tenders running with I1sa engines.??
- However, the model runs really well with the Bowser 13,000 gallon tender, and I'm willing to stick with it until something better comes along.??
- My tender currently lacks a doghouse/brakeman's cabin and other detailing.? These things are on my to-do list once I get the engine completed.??
- If you're modeling the PRR from 1926 to 1949, the 130F82 tender ran with up to 100 I1s (and later I1sa) engines and was much more common with I1s engines during the late 20s and the 1930s.??
- Take what you like from this and enjoy your model railroad. :)?
