I installed a long shanked 30 series KD coupler to the tender. Hopefully the extra swing of the long shank coupler will compensate for the overhang the long tender has on sharp radius curves.
?The pilot had to be raised and supported to nount the coupler.
?I made a piece of channel to extend the frame from the cylinders to the pilot beam where the coupler would be mounted. The sides channel had to be cut out to clear the pilot wheels.
?The centering spring is an older KD centering spring that works like the newer 30 series . The coupler is a low shank 30 series coupler. |
