I'm making my E8's finally. This is how I usually go, I spend forever with a project on the back burner in my head then I knock it out.
This is a Model Power E8, which started life as BN 9908 (a fictitious number, bless them) but I am making it into Amtrak 330.
First, I used Wash-away paint remover to get rid of the Cascade green, which actually went pretty quickly. I used a toothbrush to clean paint out of the crevices, then I washed the model with dish soap and let it sit for a few days.
Next, I sprayed it with Testor's silver spray paint. I let it sit for a while and then hit it again. Then, I masked the sides off and sprayed the red nose, waiting a while between first and second doses. I let that dry overnight last night and masked the red off and this morning I sprayed black (don't have a photo yet). This afternoon when I get home I'll hit it along a couple spots I can already see I missed, I wanted to let what was there dry to avoid runs.
I'll probably pick up a can of dullcote and hit it with that once the paint has set a day, then on to decals!
Hope you enjoy what I have so far
