connecting a 2 midis to QY100? (keyboard and a nanocontrol2)

hi, just got a QY100, and am having fun!!? I set up my midi usb keyboard to a 5 pin DoreMidi hostbox...but i just got a Korg Nanocontrol 2...i want to control the sounds with my keyboard, and adjust cc parameters with the Nanocontrol....is this possible? can i use a usb splitter into the DoreMidi hostbox to connect both? or do i need something else?

Edited

Is it possible to insert your nanocontrol between the keyboard and the hostbox?
?
Later: read post in previous thread by Andreas Fertig. It describes your circumstances. - Post #788

well, i dont know how i could do that without a usb splitter...and the dore midi hostbox only has one usb connection...i currently have the qy100 connected to my macbook...its going into the 5 pin of an audio interface...and got my keyboard to control the qy100 thru ableton...so maybe i can get the nanokontrol to work this way

So I take it the post I referred you to above was of no assistance?
?
There seems to be some Nanokontrol experience among the group. Perhaps someone will speak up.

My understanding of the DoreMIDI host box is that you can use it to convert a USB controllers signal into 5-pin MIDI so you can use it with a MIDI device without needing a computer. I'm not sure if the DoreMIDI host box can be used with a computer to interface it with the computer for MIDI. I would doubt it, because it's purpose is to connect a USB MIDI device intended for use with a computer, and make it possible to use it with a 5-pin device without a computer.

You can buy something like the? to connect your computer to the QY100, then use a conventional USB hub to connect both your MIDI keyboard and the Nanokontrol to the computer. Within Ableton you should be able to route both the keyboard and the Nanokontrol to the CME U2MIDI Pro (or any other USB interface for MIDI you purchase) to control the QY100.

I happen to own two?iConnectivity Mio devices that do the same thing as the CME U2MIDI Pro. I'm only suggesting the U2MIDI Pro because it's $20 on Amazon, rather than $36 like the Mio devices.

In my home studio I use USB-to-MIDI adapter devices like the CME U2MIDI Pro for each of my older synths that do not have a USB interface built into them. In the "Audio MIDI Setup" application on my Mac I am able to see two "iConnectivity Mio" devices for two of my synths. To know the difference, I was able to rename them "Alesis QSR Mio" and "Akai AX-60 Mio" respectively so I know which synth they serve.

I use a powered USB hub to connect many devices to my computer. I run a long USB cable to another USB hub under my synth rack to connect those devices.

I use MIDI tracks in Cubase to configure MIDI coming from one device, like my USB MIDI controller keyboard, to another synth in my studio. The same ?by creating a MIDI track with "All Ins" and "All Channels" configured, and it will send MIDI from both your MIDI keyboard and the Nanokontrol to the QY100 if you configure it to do so.

I would recommend creating 2 MIDI tracks, and configuring each to route MIDI to the QY100 independently, that way you can control which MIDI channel of the QY100 each is routing signal to in the QY100.

so theoretically you'd need 2 doremi thingies, and then a Merge, into the QY100. USB hub into the Doremi probably wouldn't work. i suppose you've tried it. Jason's idea is interesting, because you might be able to MIDI merge within the DAW.

Great advice…

I recall buying a mini kirg keyboard (nano ontrol maybe) and needinga pc in the middle toget it to work (since the keyboard was USB only)… The CME solution seems like a great idea and I wish it were around back then (sold the keyboard due to the need for ?a PC)… Seems like the CMEproduct does a ton more (and has presets too).

They make great products and their WIDI stuff is right up there (and compatible with some of) Yamaha’s midi-over-bluetooth offerings.

Nice that they are on Amazon as shipping used to be killer. ?Signup on their site to get an occasional discount or pre-order notification. ?

Not the cheapest, but solid quality, IMHO.

I decided to return the nanokontrol...i think i'm just gonna get a small midi controller just for the qy100...something with 5 pin, knobs & faders built in...maybe a Novation ReMOTE SL or an Akai MPK225

I highly recommend the Remote SL Mark II, with the dual LCDs… they come in zero, 25, 36, 48, and (I think) 60 key versions. The 36-key version is a good balance of size, but these are all pretty big compared to Korg microKontrol or the nanocontrol, etc

Not a big fan of the newer single LCD version even though it has touch sensitive controls… The dual LCDs just make it alot easier to line up controls/settings on the right side.

But they are all great controllers, just personal preference.

that'll be the MARK 1 then ;-)
it's the mk2 that has the single LCD.

Actually, the Mark one, and the mark three both have a single LCD I believe…

The Mark II has the dual LCD…

that one has ONE LCD ;-)
great price .. i got a 25SL mk1 recently for 50eu in good condition.
a bit short as a keyboard but fits inside a rack box/space (without the rails).
i have another small keyboard, the Keystep37, so can combine them for more key range with an essential piece of kit: the MIDI Solutions Quad Merge: 4 MIDI Ins to 1 Out, doesn't no power supply or batteries (takes current from the 1st MIDI In - most MIDI devices send a tiny current with the signal from the MIDI Out; some don't so those would go on one of the other inputs)
?
have also seen the 'Zero' (no keys, just the box) going cheap. very useful bit of kit that i've had for a while, and use to make controls for any midiCC or sysex-capable unit. they can also send NRPNs, which is quite rare. it also works out the checksum, for Roland devices, with several options for message length. it's well thought out. there's a thing called Automap, for mapping plugins and DAWS automatically, but i've never used that.
?
also never used the MkII version (as shown! heh) - possibly it has better encoders? don't know.
the mk1 has 40 template slots to work with, which can be linked either in toggle stacks as series, or by using buttons (or the pads, which i don't find useful) as links.
?
the key thing about these is the Remote Editor software, which is very comfortable to work with (i think). they'll run off USB with computer while you program them, and then off 9v PSU as standalone, away from the computer.
have never tried the mk3; it looks like a different thing altogether.

Yeah, my mistake… I always get these versions, confused… Thanks for clarifying.
