Best ways to control the volume of the QY-100.
Hey group.
I use a MIDI pickup equipped guitar+ Roland GP-10 guitar processor. To make a story short, the Roland module will output MIDI to the QY-100. Then the? audio output of the QY-100 gets conveniently re-sent to an "aux-in" input in the back of the GP-10. So this ends-up? combining the guitar tones of the GP-10 with the synth module output of the QY-100. My dilemma: I need the QY-100 audio volume level to be pedal controlled, (a volume pedal). What's the best way for me to get the audio output of the QY-100 to be volume-pedal controlled? CC with a MIDI pedal or controller-is it possible? FWIW, the output is likely going to end up amplified in mono, not stereo as I use a single powered PA speaker. Thanks for any suggestions. Toomanyplugs. |
Is this question deceptively difficult? Sounds like you could put a volume pedal between the output of the QY-100 and the "aux-in" jack of the GP-10.?? This kind of continuously-variable attenuation of a line-level signal is what volume pedals were designed for, right? Thank you.
Since I posted, I found out I will need a specialized device, a MIDI host, and the host I found, happens to have 2 built-in pedal control jacks. It looks like it will solve the problems of me using the QY as a sound module. Now I will have to figure/program how to create patches in MIDI. Toomanyplugs. |
I still don't know why this is such a tough issue.? A volume pedal is what I suggested in the beginning.? Kaltar is right about the noise problem when your approach is to change the MIDI volume. Sometimes the elegant answer is the least effective,?least reliable, and least glitch-proof. FYI - This is a reply to the same question I got on Facebook:
"The physical side button will not have (is not) MIDI controlled You have CC7 & CC11 for midi volume On a side thought. Each channel defaults to volume 100 I always used to crank mine up to 127. Thinking a bit more about levels nowadays would 100 ‘sort of equate’ to 0db and 101-127 is there as headroom adjustment or do other folk have certain habits/technique on maximising output levels? ?" |
