It appears that my use of chord templates is just a coincidence. It seems that when preset Styles are used in Song mode, tracks C1-C4 (21-24) are unmutable in song play, although they can be muted in pattern play. Could somebody authoritatively confirm that this is the case for a qy70? Am I missing some step to make a pattern track change persist into song play?

I appreciate that I might be able to achieve my? objective using a (series of?) SysEx message at the head of the song. Could somebody point me towards a step by step description of how to do this.

Another potential strategy is to copy the styles I wish to use to user styles and mute or otherwise silence the tracks I dont want. This is a clunky solution which I may pursue as a last resort.

I have read the User Manual cover to twice - once skimmed, once studied. I cant claim it has all stuck. I have skimmed through the archives, and studied those threads which seemed remotely relevant - I cant say absolutely all of that has stuck either, but hopefully I know my way around.
