I'm not deeply familiar with what the Korg nanoKONTROL2 can do, like if there is a software application bundled with it that allows you to change or configure which MIDI CC messages are assigned to each control. Most generic MIDI control surfaces have a default MIDI CC configuration, and you have to assign each to a specific purpose in your plugin or DAW.

What kinds of sound editing did you expect to be possible with the QY100 via MIDI?
?
I'm looking at the last pages of the documentation, which includes the MIDI Implementation chart. It includes some MIDI CC numbers, but it doesn't really say what those control. Here's a version of the that's easier to reference.
?
It appears that many more controls are supported by the QY100, Vibrato rate, depth, delay; Filter cut-off, resonance, EG envelope settings, reverb send level, chorus send level, but I'm not sure if these are only able to be provided or received from the QY100 as a bulk import/dump using SysEx messages... or if the documentation is misleading me by using Hex representations in the docs.
?
Honestly I've had no issues mapping the controls of something like the nanoKONTROL 2 to software plugins or DAW controls, but mapping them to an external device is less likely to work out. I would start with that documentation and really finding out what's possible with MIDI in controlling the QY100. In theory, it could be possible for some individual or company to create software that still runs on current operating systems that communicates with the QY100 using the appropriate MIDI SysEx commands. Other older synthesizers continue to be remotely tweaked using software, like the for the Access Virus, or for the Moog Voyager. But I find it unlikely that there are software editors for the QY100, because I expect most people to either use it as a mobile sequencer, or as a simple XG sound module.

I did find , which does mention "XG editors". I know the QY100 is more than just a General MIDI device, it supports the Yamaha XG standard. If this standard is what the QY100 supports, and it includes the ability to manipulate common filter and envelope settings, then perhaps there is something possible. I admit I have not done a deep dive on all that the XG standard is, I just thought it meant many more instruments... not a remotely controllable sound engine.
