Thanks so much for the excellent information. I wish I would have known all this back in 2004, since I would've wanted to record in multi-track format.
In my naivety, though, I just turned on the QY and started recording without changing anything ... So unless what you're describing are the default settings, then I guess I'm looking at one bloated track...
I'll know for sure soon enough (hopefully), but in any case this is super helpful to know whenever I want to try this again!

REC-Monitor is one of the options in the ECHO-BACK field on the QY70, but some Yamaha equipment might have a check box for REC-Monitor instead (though I would hope not for consistency sake)...?
In anycase, the main thing to keep in mind is that the two concepts (Echo-Back and REC-Monitor) are related with generally REC-Monitor being just one of the options for the ECHO-BACK field (the other options being THRU and OFF).
