hey julien
thanx for your feedback.?
if you are on linux try hexter fm synthesizer
as far as i understood it a dx7 software version that can also exchange patches with real dx7
Julien, what Linux distro do you use?
If possible get the latest Hexter version: With Version 1.0 a patch editor
was integrated into Hexter. Create patches using hexter (you don't even have to own a TX7/DX7 for that), save as syx, and load the syx in your
TX7. Works great. Use amidi (from alsa-utils) as SysEx dump utility.
With the Hexter distribution also comes a very simple but effective
separate DX7/TX7 editor that runs in a terminal with a curses interface.
A bit retro-looking, but works perfectly.
If you are looking for something more advanced you can try JSynthLib,
which has DX7/TX7 support.
And then there is my python powered DXconvert utility. Not an editor, not
a librarian. But it can do magick if you want to convert Yamaha FM synth
patches (2, 4, and 6 Operator) to .syx for your TX7. And many other
tricks. It is developed on my Linux machine so you can be pretty sure it
should work ;-)
If you use an ATARI emulator like Hatari you can find several DX7/TX7
editors from the ATARI ST history and run them on your Linux machine.
First check the standard software repositories for your Linux distribution
what's available.
