Re: DX7 not reponding to any button
I have started the dx without the connections between the buttons and the moterboard. It's the same, the problem remains. So the buttons panels are ok. Im means that it can be a firmware problem ?

If it starts fine without the panel, you know that the panel pcb is somehow corrupted. Florian |

Re: DX7 not reponding to any button
Does it show voice #27? Looks like button #27 is stuck pressed down (like if you were with with your finger pressing it down). This would prevent any other button from working. I would suggest you to check the panel switches. My thought. cheerz From: nashoo To: YamahaDX@... Sent: Saturday, August 27, 2011 2:50 PM Subject: [YamahaDX] DX7 not reponding to any button

Hello,
I have a DX7 with some strange problem : When i turn it on, it shows on display 27 and Memory protect cardridge on , but not button is reponding. The keyboard works, and i can hear a saw-like sound when i play it , and it also transmits midi data. I have moved the cables, shaked the case, etc, for a bad connection, but.......nothing. Any ideeas ? Thanks. |

I have checked with a multimeter, and the buttons seem to make contact. --- In YamahaDX@..., "uldiszemzars" <uldiszemzars@...> wrote:

Try to internal diagnostics for the DX7. The procedure is to hold down the function key and then press keys 16 and 32 simultaneously.

Re: SER-7--Can it be used with all DX7 models-- DX7s/IID/IIFD?

No it will only work with the vanilla DX7. The firmware for the later models is totally different and they even have eproms that are 4 times larger.

DX5 issues (service manual?)
I am having a few issues with my recently acquired DX5:
1) When I have both A and B outputs going to my external bus/mixer, or if I am using the P output, pushing the "Balance" slider all the way to the A channel will result in a loud "pop". This behavior seems to be absent when I am just sending only the A output to the external bus/mixer. 2) Any input in the "Data Entry" section (both slider and +/- buttons) will cause any parameter's value to continue to change even when not entering any data (eg. on the envelope section of operator 1, if I change R1 with the slider or the buttons and let go, the values will continue to change, sometimes in one direction, or sometimes bidirectionally). Also, it seems that envelopes take a long time to respond to edits (or don't respond at all), and there seems to be some random behavior elsewhere (values changing inexplicably, etc.) Perhaps this could be a battery issue in the case of number 2)... not sure about issue number 1) though (dirty potentiometer? old capacitor?). Also, where might I find a service manual for the Yamaha DX5 (just in case it requires some repairs). Any help would be greatly appreciated!! |

It really changes the DX7 into a new instrument, but keeps the good things. Nevertheless, the price in this auction is very high. I bought mine from a seller named "bigmanilow" for 79 Euros in 2009. He sold them on a regular basis. Florian ------------------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Links |

Hello,
If you have midi ports on your PC, you may also check out my editor program here : This demo is fully functionnal (i.e load and save patches & banks) Hope you will like it ;) Remember to use the mouse wheel to rotate a "virtual button", this is so much easier than click & drag !! Bernard |
