To the OP, the underlying sonic footprint of FM synthesis is almost always guaranteed, but the musical use is limitless. The artistry lies in both the mind of the creator and the mind of the perceiver.
In the end, it is only in a mind of a perceiver that music occurs. So... find a creative way to make use of 1 million FM patches. Or not. Music is impartial.
