You needed a step-down transformer 240-110v,(same with japanese gear I think) which can supply enough current for the device that you want to run,although I guess you already know this now!
Anyway,you might be lucky and just the fuse in the TX81Z is blown,if not I would buy another one as getting someone to look at it would cost you more than the unit is worth,
This one just sold in the UK for ?60.21 + ?9.99 postage.
Though, I'm not happy about that, as my bid on it was ?59.21 :( Too many times I've been the ebay bridesmaid, not the bride.
I used to have a TX81Z with a Japanese power supply. Eventually I gave it away to someone who could 240v-ise the power supply.
