Will be very interesting. The fc40 does a good job if the antenna is complemented with a unun/balun.

I think that the key information that I'm looking for is how the tuning command is initiated. It seems that the fc20 is the master and polls the ft100 to check for the TUNE button. Taking over, it sets the ft100 for tune power until it's happy with the swr. But I can't find confirmation of that.
Now looking at serial comms sniffing tools to find out what these two are saying to each other before and during the dance!
