I have similar plan to do. Will buy such a spare cable and
will try to expand it with some other cables. I do not want to cut the original
cable.
Will keep you informed as soon as I get the spare cable in
Germany from a Mac source.

I am wondering the same information, I would like to buy an
extension
cable and then , how long can the cale be? I plan on mounting the
FC-
40 on my 60 foot tower and running a sloper wire.
