FT847 and automatic tuner
Hi Nils, thank you very much for the reply. I used the MFJ 929 myself many years ago. At that time I had noticed that the firmware version in my device was a very old one and from the selection of transceivers to be connected was not identical to the firmware of the current series. At that time it was about another transceiver, which was not to be set in the old MFJ 929, but in the new firmware version (other IC). Conversely, it could now also be that the old FT847 is no longer compatible with the newer/actual firmware. Unfortunately I can't test this by myself because I sold the MFJ929 long time ago. May I therefore ask which firmware version is in use in your MFJ 929 ? Thanks for feedback 73 Rolf, DC1ZZ |
Hi Rolf,
I must confess that I haven't read the manual for the 929 until today... The version seems to be 1006 and the age of the unit is unknown to me since I bought it second hand. The only connections I have made to the 929 is RF in and out, no interface cable to the 847. I operate on all bands 160 to 28 and my multiband vertical isn't the best choice specially on the lower bands. On some rare occations in the winter when there is heavy snow the 929 can have problem to tune the antenna on 160. What I like the best about the 929 is the "install and forget" feature that works so well for me. 73 Nils? |
开云体育Hi Rolf ? I used an LDG YT847 with my FT847.? It was truly plug and play, just connect the RF to the radio.? I worked very well with my HF9V antenna.? I have since sold mine and I don’t think it is manufactured any more but you may be able to find one on ebay? ? I really liked it and only sold it when I switched my radio to an IC7300. ? Good luck. ? Joe VA3TV ? Sent from for Windows ? From: Rolf DC1ZZ

Hello again Rolf......yes, I use the interface cable (forget it's number now & its hard to reach - but its the one that MFJ makes for the 939).
The only possible drawback with the 939 is that it has no swr meter. But it does work fine at 100W with both my Hustler vertical and an EFHW. 73.?? Mike. |
