I must confess that I haven't read the manual for the 929 until today... The version seems to be 1006 and the age of the unit is unknown to me since I bought it second hand.
The only connections I have made to the 929 is RF in and out, no interface cable to the 847. I operate on all bands 160 to 28 and my multiband vertical isn't the best choice specially on the lower bands.
On some rare occations in the winter when there is heavy snow the 929 can have problem to tune the antenna on 160.
What I like the best about the 929 is the "install and forget" feature that works so well for me.
