TX/RX same band in Satellite mode

Is it possible to transmit and receive in the same band when in Satellite mode?

Thanks,
Andy

Not at the same time.

HI Andy
Needless to put it in SAT if on the same band, at most use VFO A and B and not SAT mode.

Is there any option in SAT mode that you would miss in normal mode except full duplex which on the same band without various filters or notches (cavity filters) would be difficult to manage positively?

On VHF the cavities are the size of beer barrels! And you would need 4-6 depending on split

You'd have to run in split mode if you want tx/rx on the same band.

I used to use an ft847 and the sat mode is a special mode designed to be used only when doing qso’s via satellite.? The mode provides automatic frequency tracking to track the satellites as they traverse the sky so you don’t have to do manual tracking.? It made tracking the satellites effortless.? Of course you still had to use satellite tracking software on your computer.? The full duplex meant that you could hear and talk to the satellite at the same time.? Check this out on the net.? There’s lots of information on it.

To add to that, do not attempt to work the satellites until you can hear your own voice coming down from the satellite.

I am having the same problem now that GREENCUBE is on my RADAR.? Tonight I figured out that I can operate regular, non SAT mode, and go SPLIT.? ?The PstRotator controls the receive doppler and I can manually adjust the TX with the SUB-TUNE.
