Re: FAST button not working through mic jack
Early Yaesu 9-pin connector wiring used two different common lines – so they are not identical but work on most functions, interchangeably.
The two different 8-pin microphone designs show up

Re: FAST button not working through mic jack
I do not believe it is a mic issue. I checked the wiring and it is all intact. According to the schematic, shorting pin 4 (FAST) on the mic jack should activate that function. It does not.
I also

Re: FAST button not working through mic jack
I have seen (2) Yaesu microphones not wired correctly for the radios they were attached to. One was simple miswire, the other was not soldered, it had heat-shrink applied to one of the wires

Re: FAST button not working through mic jack
Max,
I had a problem with my FT-847 in the same way. It was the microphone – an older model 8-pin model with the UP, DOWN, and FAST buttons – but the FAST did not work. When I used the MH-31B8

FAST button not working through mic jack
Well now that the UHF transmit problem was resolved (thank you again to everyone), my next issue is the FAST function does not work from the microphone or by shorting the appropriate pins on the mic

Re: If low at O/P then trace back D2016 switching?
To close the loop on this repair, I ended up removing Q4001 on the VHF/UHF amp board, I removed the 4 connecting pins, and then under jewelers glasses, touched up the 4 pads on the module. I think

Re: No power on SSB
Aloes check around the balanced modulator, of the SSB signal PINs 2&5 are interchangeable as it’s is a gilbert cell, Yaesu used it the other way around!
Check the filter pins are not corroded

Re: No power on SSB
This is the 2nd TX mixer VCO PLL used for SSB and AM, this mixes with the 1st IF SSB to form the 2nd TX IF frequency, before it is mixed up to final frequency by the UHF TX VCO.

Re: No power on SSB
Audio tracing will not work as the pre amp uses current mirrors, so very little to see, as AM works, the 2nd TX mixer is locked, so check around the SSB filters with a scope for the SSB signal.

No power on SSB
I need help as I have no power on SSB (all bands), whereas FM is fine, whenever I transmit on my FT-847.
Receiving SSB signal is fine.
I've confirmed this problem on a watt meter to a dummy load.
