Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted
Hi there, that info was released by Yeasu quite a few years ago, there is no update now, somewhere there is a 4M pre-amp available for the 847 along with details of how to modify the bandpass filters to allow much higher power out and drastically reduce the current taken when on 4M, both my 847's are fitted with the preamps and filters modified, have not seen the mod mentioned since.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted
Leighton,
yes that was the cause of the issue all of the documentation is so very old and conflicting but I can confirm that it works well on 60M the 40M bandpass filter covers from 5 to 7.5Mhz as the radio has the Alaska emergency frequency?5.1675Mhz from the factory. |
Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted
Hi there, there is a list of frequencies covered after the mod included in the info, as always a full reset is required after changing any of the links to make sure the processor picks up the new band info, Ihave done this mod to both my 847's with no problems what so ever.

Re: 60 Meter Transmit Mod Info Wanted
update??
but I just did the changes to one of my 847s started with one like this and finished with it looking like this I used 0 ohm resistors instead of a? solder bridge and i cant find that the changes did anything at all except causing me to have to reset all my settings and memories it gives "error" when going out of any band from 160M - 70cm I enabled the AK emergency channel? in the menu and it will TX there but it would have done that any way? anyone ever have success with this? |
Re: FT-847 on 8M
Thanks, I was aware of that.? The current experimental band is 40.660 to 40.700 for US stations.?? At this stage I don't even have a license to transmit on 8 meter. Tom? K6EU On Mon, Feb 13, 2023 at 10:55 AM Spence M0STO via <unavailable.equal=[email protected]> wrote:

开云体育Hi Tom,?? ? ? ? ? ? ?just a work of warning!! There is an fundamental at 36mhz. Be very weary about transmitting anywhere near that frequency. ?De Spence M0STO? Sent while portable! please excuse typos. On 13 Feb 2023, at 17:57, K6EU <wa4qvq@...> wrote:

FT-847 on 8M?
Has anyone tried using an 847 on the new experimental 8M band?? I've been monitoring 40.680 (FT8) for several?days without?success.? Given the time of year, this is no surprise?but, I wonder, how sensitive?the radio?is at 40Mhz. Has anyone tried transmitting on 40 Mhz?? Does the wideband mod enable the radio to xmit on 8M? You can contact me via the ARRL reflector. 73, Tom? ?K6EU |
Re: FT-847 Won't Work in SAT Mode
开云体育All, ? So what I found out is the ALC modification that I implemented to use the 847 with transverter's disabled the SAT mode function.? I'm not sure why but removing the diode that was suggest by OK1VPZ and team fixed the issue.? ? '73, ? John N2HMM ? FT-847 Won't Work in SAT Mode
开云体育Hello, ? I have an 847 that won't transmit while in SAT Mode.? The radio works fine in all modes, bands and powers at half-duplex and in split mode but when in SAT Mode, the radio won't transmit.? ? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.? ? ? '73, ? John N2HMM ? |

Re: FT-847 Transmit Problem
Hi, I'm just picking up on this thread but I've had a similar problem before.... the two screw terminals that clamp down the incoming cable inside the FT847 are prone to working loose. Also inline fuses that are badly made off can offer a significant voltage drop. thats my 2p worth. de Spence M0STO On Sun, Jan 15, 2023 at 2:52 AM Andy Bosworth <sidthepop@...> wrote:

Re: FT-847 Transmit Problem
I would respectfully suggest that people are jumping to conclusions without logical thinking. Perhaps if the original poster bothered to read answers, it may help. I have asked what size PSU he is using, as did another, but no reply. I asked if it did it on FM, no reply. It is displaying symptoms of drawing too much current, hence my questions.? If PSU is too low a capacity, it will cut out. FM being a full current mode, it will cut out. Ignore the FT8, go back to basics and fault find. Put the radio on a dummy load, connected to a known good PSU, and try it again. You could even check the power lead for dirty fuses or connections, as that is known to cause problems. Re: FT-847 Transmit Problem
开云体育Yes, I agree, the power on switches are known as a fault on many radios and would cause this problem. Not that I’ve ever had one fail on me like that. But if there was a problem with that, you would have an idea how it felt and behaved.Sent from Jeff M0UHF?
