It appears my advert has caused members some sort of irritation, I have therefore deleted it and the comments posted.
May I suggest that if you have nothing constructive to say, don't.

NICE FT-847 FOR SALE

Butch McCollough

I've decided to part with my 847. Ser. # 3G760154. It is in great condition. Everything works as new. Looks nearly new also. I have the original manual, power cable and hand mic. Also included is the elusive odd 5 pin din HF amp keying cable and a very nice vinyl, embroidered cover. I do not have the original boxes so I'd prefer a local pick up or a meet and greet at a reasonable and agreed upon distance.? Priced for a quick sale at $575. Shipping would be extra and I'd have to round up some boxes.? PayPal is preferred.? Email offers off the reflector pls.??

Thanks all & 73,

Nimrod Schwartz

Hi,
?
I do have 847 and a Digimode-4 interface (the one for the 847), what is the setting needed on the 847 and PC (Wxjt / Jtdx)? to
make it run?

Thanks

Re: COLLINS FILTER YF-115S-02

The filter for the 847 is not common.
Filter for ft1000 is more frequent.
However, there are other radios available, such as Kenwood. A narrow 455 filter from a Kenwood will work, and work well. It's just a question of finding space for it, and connecting two pieces of coax to it.

Re: COLLINS FILTER YF-115S-02

Hi Butch, i'm not sure if you know but the filters in an FT1000MP Mark V are also compatible in the FT847.? This might expand your ability to locate one.? I searched a long time for the 500 Hz CW filter without luck until I learned about the cross-compatibility.? I was searching "FT847 CW filter" (and variations of) and was finding nothing or listings with rediculous greedBay prices.? Skeptical, I did a lot of image searches for the CW filters for both radios and compared them and they looked the same.? So I took a chance and started searching "FT1000MP CW filter" and in short order I was able to find one being parted out by an FT1000MP owner.? I too am looking for the SSB filter.? A couple of times I almost convinced FT1000MP owners to part with their 2.4 kHz SSB filter but failed.? Someday!? :-)
?
?
This was the site where I first discovered the cross compatibility.? Scroll down about half way for the SSB one.

NR Failure in SSB/CW

Hello? 847 owners.
?
I have some troubles with my 847. I experience a low volume in rx SSB, that I fix with a capacitor bypass , but remain a fault in DSP-NR only? in SSB and CW (FM/AM works well).
When the NR switch is depressed the signal disappear in the speaker (Only in the AF stage - Smeter ok),
?
I supposed a fault in IC BU4066 SSB/CW/AM/FM switch but, after the replacement of? IC Q1087?the NR fault persist.
?
Following the schematic another IC ( Q1115)? act like switch between input/output of dsp, but before desoldering (SMD is not easy to desolder), I would like to know if? somebody have fixed this
?
kind of fault.
?
Service manual supplied from Yaesu is very poor over this.
?
Many thanks for Your support over this topic.

COLLINS FILTER YF-115S-02

Butch McCollough

Hello to the group. I'm a new member.? I just acquired an FT-847 and am trying to locate the optional Collins RX filter.? It is the
YF-115S-02.? ?Anyone have one laying around that you would sell for less than the King's ransom?? Or do you know where I could find one?? Thanks for any help.

Re: loss of hf+6 tx

Hi Shayne, what current does you 847 take when transmitting, at minimum power out?.
At 5 watts on 6m mine takes just under 10Amps.
I suspect you have a blown HF P/A unit.

loss of hf+6 tx

HF+6 fault help.
My 4m modded 847 has suddenly developed a TX fault affecting hf&6 only 2/70 are fine. when tx-ing on any hf band or 6 there is about 50% power all modes and a horrid hum/buzz on the output. anyone had this experience?

Any luck on finding the fault?

Re: No receive or transmit

Looks like there is no data from the cpu. Check folowing points:
  1. Check Q2026 for 5 volt on pin 4, on HF on reception,
  2. Check Q2033 for 5 volt on pin 4, on HF on transmision,
  3. Check Q2023 for 5 volt on pin 4, on UHF on reception,
  4. Check Q2024 for 5 volt on pin 4, on UHF on transmision,
  5. Check Q2032 for 5 volt on pin 4, on VHF on reception,
  6. Check Q2025 for 5 volt on pin 4, on VHF on transmision,
Check the connection between J2003 PLL board, and J1025 AF-CTRL-UNIT,
Check if ic Q1119 (BU4081BF) is oke

I recently picked up a non-working 847 to replace the display on mine.
The numbers on my 847 were losing some of the segments but the
inoperable 847 had a good display. It was an easy swap and now my 847
has a good display. The OP I bought the salvage 847 from told me he had
purchased it from an estate sale but the rig was 'deaf' when he
connected an antenna and powered it up. ?I hooked it up to a watt meter
and dummy load and the rig will not transmit on any band. I started the
alignment procedure and discovered the PLL adjustments showed minimal
voltage (.022 volts) at TP20001 and would only change a few thousands
when I adjusted T2001 through T2005.

I am wondering where to go at this point to start troubleshooting this
issue. Is it worth pursuing trying to repair this non-working rig or
put it on the shelf to salvage parts from in the future?

Re: No receive or transmit

Check the "VHF-VCO VCV check" and the "UHF-VCO VCV check". If they check ok, then your REF is ok.
Otherwise check REF, and check if you have output of both PLL's Q2040 and Q2044 pin9.
