Re: FT847 160 and 80 MHz
开云体育I’m not sure about the question you are asking me I have put this frequency in the title and in the message 160 m and?80 m. The error appears across the screen as if it was out of band as it would, if you were trying to transmit out of band. Whereas 160 m and 80 m are not out of band. This only happens if I were to try and TX.? Jeff (M0UHF)

Re: FT847 160 and 80 MHz
More information needed.? Where does it show error? On what frequencies? On Fri, 14 Oct 2022, 15:36 Jeff M0UHF, <jeff.elliott45@...> wrote: Hi, I have just received a ft847 and I have noticed it does not work and shows error as if it was out of band on 160m and 80m. Please can somebody advise.? |
Re: Distorted audio signal on shortwave (rx!)
开云体育I found the solution: Thank you all for helping me. I have another problem with that trcv but I will open a new thread if I find nothing in the archive... 73, Tom Am 20.08.2022 um 10:26 schrieb Tom

Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
Max,
Yes, I was looking at one of those Kuhne electronic QH40A Cyrstal heaters something like you have. I was worried about the trimmer also being a problem,? so thought kill 2 birds with one stone on the TCXO. Sure I will do one or the other, I can get a TCXO for $12 total so that would be the cheapest route. |
Re: Discriminator Meter Off Center
开云体育Correct ? Make sure everything is on frequency first! ? 73 ? Andrew ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Max Donoghue ? I had the same problem. I had to go into the service menu and adjust the DISC-L and DISC-H settings. Look in the files section. |
Discriminator Meter Off Center
Hello, I just got my first FT-847 a week ago. I notice the discriminator always pulls to the left even with no signal. I did adjust the ref osc as it was off freq a bit.
Looks to be about 900hz off. I looked through the service manual briefly but didn't see a way to center it. Thanks? K9CZ |
Interesting bug...
Hi folks,
With the return of sunspots and randomly good propagation, a short note which you might want to know about. I heard early today that propagation on 10 meters was open from the West Coast to the mid-west, where a number of 10 meter FM repeaters reside.? I've worked some of them in the distant past (prior cycle), so went listening.? The trusty 847 automatically dialed in the -100khz offset as I poked in the 29.620 FM frequency.? Nice. Later this afternoon a fellow ham asked for a radio check for his new 10 meter antenna, so we agreed to meet down in the SSB portion of the band.? Punched in the new frequency, tapped SSB, and keyed up.? He repeated his call.? No contact.? Finally I noticed that the 847 was still in repeater mode (even though I was clearly in SSB), therefore transmitting on the wrong frequency.? Pushing the RPT button did not work to turn off RPT.? I had to switch back into FM, turn off RPT, then switch back to SSB. {sigh}? You probably already know this, but it bit me today. Greg? KO6TH |
Re: No power on SSB
开云体育Well done for finding this, I wonder what killed the amps, check the 8V and 5V rails! ? 73 ? Andrew ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Suryono Adisoemarta via groups.io ? A quick update as a closure to the no SSB problem. After I got help by a friend in tracing the audio signal, we had to replace the NJM2902 op-amps. I went ahead and replace both chips. |

Re: UHF Range: Partial RX/TX Issue.
Max Donoghue
I second the Tiny SA. I bought one recently while trying to solve my no UHF output issue. They are great little devices. I have the matching analyser and oscilloscope. While not costing nor matching the performance of the more expensive options out there, there are great little instruments to have in the shack for basic troubleshooting. Max VE3TMT |
