I would add that the 847 was built back when doing "data"
communication on HF involved different "TNC" equipment than VHF, so
(I presume) they designed it to segregate the various modes to
different physical connectors on the back panel.? It is possible to
wire things together with appropriate DC blocking caps and use a
single sound card interface, but it's tricky.? Receive audio goes
everywhere, but transmit only comes from whichever jack that
triggered PTT.
Do note that using CAT to trigger PTT is a problem.? For reasons I
cannot fathom, the rig listens to the front panel mike jack for
transmit audio when PTT is triggered by CAT.?

Yes and WSPR and JT65HF.
? Also recently used on GreenCube but a lot of hassle due to
GreenCube being simplex and the FT847 having to work doppler
shifting and split on the same band. Very tricky to Doppler
shift split frequencies going up and down.
? Apart from that, very good results with SignaLink SL-1 and
homebrew interface.
? However, some issues with SCU-17 data port on FT847 cannot
communicate with HF due to no data output in HF via data socket.
