Help with PMS
Just got the radio. ?I set up programmable memory channel scan upper and lower limits, for example VHF Ham L01=144 MHz U01=148 MHz and UHF Ham L02=420 U02=450. ?I can initiate the scan by pressing the up or down button on the mic, but this only works for the UHF and VHF bands. ?I set up air voice frequencies scan L03=118 MHz U03=137 MHz, but this will not scan like the UHF and VHF bands. ?Has anyone else tried this? ?If I scan the air band in VFO mode, I get all the navigation beacons.

Hello All...New to the group. Just ordered Yaesu FTM-6000R from HRO
Read a post that price went up, happens all the time. I just saw this model in new HRO catalog. Last year I purchased an IRLP node which needs serial connector and the radio a data port. That is difficult to find these days. I have new Yaesu 8800 & 8900's purchased 3 years ago before everything was going color display, digital, etc. Did not want to waste one of those well built analogues for just a desktop irlp node. Been hoping for low end Yaesu to come back with a model with data port on back, same type as my other Yaesu 8800 series. Luck would have it that this model is identical port! I will only use it for the IRLP transceiver for HT to node and out via wi-fi. Had bought a Kenwood V71A dual bander which seemed like overkill for intended use. This 6000R will be perfect for when I want to use the IRLP node. I already have a clear node for allstar, echolink, dmr connections, standalone via home wi-fi. Just use any ht on low power simplex to the node.
I was reading the features of this 6000r and could not find in the specs a mic key lock or key to turn off lighted keys like on previous Yaesu mics. I know you can press power button to lock radio but does that also lock mic keys? Hoping so as I will program simplex channel in 6000R with matching on my HT. Then use the HT to control the IRLP access connects. Then turn the 6000R on when I want to use the IRLP node. Otherwise leave the radio powered off. Price was $319 on HRO but I have always had excellent performance with my other Yaesu radios since 1983. Anyone tell me if the mic has a toggle for the lighted keys and a mic lock button. My 8800 series have a lock for the radio and lock button for the mic. Thanks |

Evening,
Been battling taking this rig to the digital side for Winlink and APRS. Had a mobilinkd but it was struggling, have a digi link nano now. Any one have any tips on how they setup the ftm6000? |

Cat 5 and straight through connections
WA2MZF Jim
I posted a while back that I had success with cat 5 coupler and also straight through cable on Kenwood
gear. Today I tested this on the FTM-6000R and yes, it is the same so to speak as Kenwood. A plain cat five coupler and I modified a cat five cable by eliminating the 4th pair, doing this give you enough insulation to install the rj6 plug, STRAIGHT THROUGH. Obviously, you can now make this pretty much whatever length you wish. Tested and working fine, so you can cut that cost to almost nothing if you are bit handy. |
Re: Has Anyone tried BLUETOOTH with a headset?
Hi Glen.
Yes, that is the first setting I looked for (VOX) after I paired the headset. Bad for Yaesu. I tried unsuccessfully to pair my Plano earpiece, but was so new to the process that I don't think I followed toe procedure correctly. I will try again, I have another earpiece kicking around that I want to try, but just like everything else I own, I have no idea where the safe place is that I put it. Oh well, time for all of that after New Years. Micky K1XH |
Re: Has Anyone tried BLUETOOTH with a headset?
Micky
He mentioned low volume from the earpiece and distorted audio when transmitting.? Also, odd to me that you have to press the bottom on the top side of their BT unit that's on your ear to PTT. Press once to talk and then press again to listen, over and over again.?? Why no VOX? -- Glen, WB4KTF, Austin, TX |
Has Anyone tried BLUETOOTH with a headset?
Hi
I purchased the optional BlueTooth module for my FTM-6000R.? Just watched a YouTube review of the Yaesu BT headset SSM-BT10 that was quite disappointing. Has anyone found something that works with the rig, at least for listening?? And maybe for transmitting? -- Glen, WB4KTF, Austin, TX |

Rj cable
To add to this folks, I also made up cable, now this is for a Kenwood Six pin rig, have NOT tried it on the yausu. However in my case, I simply took cat five cable and cut the ends off Then pulled the white brown pair out as much as I could then Cut it off. This leaves you with the blue orange green pairs of wires. It was very easy to then insert the six wires into the 6 pin rj jack. I actually made a couple of them, and they are STRAIGHT THROUGH FOR Kenwood, as said have not tried on the yausu so not sure if that takes Straight through or reverse. |
