Re: price increase
Bought one back in May 2022 for $319 + 9% tax = $347.00. Also the RT Software with cable. Bummer that the price dropped as this is an excellent basic rig if you do not want all the fancy stuff like GPS, APRS, Color touch screen. I prefer the basic, stay on a single channel while in use. After reading the Gigaparts price, I logged into my HRO account and it is available for $259 (includes $40 coupon). Could not help myself and ordered 2nd one at $286.000 including tax. Will receive later in the week. When a good model comes out, I always buy 2 in case they discontinue or especially with lack of parts availability. Yaesu had to pull 2 models recently due to no parts. Glad that I read this post. KF6OJE

Anyone have a workaround for not having "BANKS"?
Jerry Suhrstedt - W7WAX
I'm sure this topic has been covered.? I'm used to my FT70D which has banks so that I can scan specific banks of memory channels rather than my entire memory list.? Does the FTM6000 have a workaround for this?
Does Groups work for this??? Trying hard to understand the whole groups concept. Any help appreciated. |
Re: Anyone have a workaround for not having "BANKS"?
Unfortunately the answer to your question is that there is NO work around. ?Yaesu’s?automatic Band Group mode is completely worthless. That is because almost everything you have programmed outside the ham bands will be in the VHF Group (rail, marine, public service) that you may wish to scan occasionally. ?Also, scanning by group limits you to just VHF OR UHF. ?It is not in any way a substitute for Memory Banks for several reasons. ?I am not sure how you use banks but I often set them up for a specific location or activity (Ex: Boat bank includes marine frequencies, ham repeaters along the Ohio River, weather & navigation, ?Other places I may visit or specific driving routes, etc). ?In almost all cases I wish to scan both UHF & VHF frequencies at the same time, not just one or the other. ? So, does anyone have any idea why Yaesu does not include memory bank support on their recent radios? ?I do not think cost would be a factor, since it should be easily implemented in either software or hardware. ?If the objective is to keep the interface simple to understand, than it is a function that you can easily ignore if you don’t use it. ?

USB port question)s)
#interface
Just bought a NIB 6000 at a recent hamfest, trying to get it set up before putting it in the mobile. Having perused the owners manual and researched online, I see virtually no information on the two USB ports. I connected the port on the main chassis to a win10 laptop, but it isn't recognized. I tried loading Prolific drivers from the Yaesu website for earlier models, still not recognized. I don't have the connector or an RS232 port to connect to he data port (yet). Should have a workable cable and port here later this week.
My question is, what are these two ports for? Strictly updates? Maybe I missed something in the manual, but I didn't even see them mentioned, though the one on the chassis is marked DATA with a small switch under it marked NORMAL and UPDATE. The one on the control head is marked DATA but no switch. Are these for updating firmware only, or is the ADMS software supposed to communicate with them? TIA - |

开云体育The USB ports are for updating the firmware.? And from what I can tell, there isn’t an update yet.? One USB is for updating the main unit and the other one is for updating the detachable head unit. ? ? ? Jerry Suhrstedt W7WAX (360) 791-3311 ?

as Jerry said, ?NIB=new in box. Bought from individual instead of vendor. He got it as a present, decided to sell it instead of using it b/c it didn’t fit where he wanted to put it in his truck.? I’m trying to avoid the Yaesu and RT Systems cables as they are based on the Prolific chip. That chip has been problematic from the get-go. The FTDI chips “just work” with no special driver installation required.? The biggest issue has been the 10 pin mini DIN connector. So far, the closest I have found is the direct-tv video cable described on this reflector. Got one, made the mods suggested, and established communication. I’m trying the ADMS-13 from Yaesu. It looks like it will meet basic needs at least.? Im not sure why Yaesu would revert to RS232 on a new radio today, but at least FTDI RS232 dongles are cheap and easy to find.? 73, |

I have used the RT Systems software and cables for: ?FT-897, FT-70, FT-3, and FT-6000, and never experienced any issues with drivers or even had to think about the chips or drivers. ?Load the software, plug in the cable and it works. ?I have also never heard of any one that had any problems with RT-Systems cables. ?That is kinda the reason for using them. ?

Bluetooth adapter
Looking for someone who has experience with the BU-4 Bluetooth adapter, either with the Yaesu headset or with third party headset. I have seen a one or two reviews of the headset, which weren’t very good, but no reviews on the Bluetooth adapter. At $45 plus another $15 to ship, I’d like to have an idea how well it works. My hearing isn’t so good anymore, especially when there is a lot of road noise. I’m thinking a decent Bluetooth headset might help.

New FTM-6000 LOCK
Hello- ?Bought a new FTM-6000. Found that almost anything I try to do with the unit the display shows “lock”. ?Looked in both manuals and can’t find a reference to a lock function on the mic or other controls. ?Tried to do a reset to factory default but get “lock” again when I press the dial to select all.rst. ?So it’s almost a brick. ? Am I missing something? Suggestions? ?Thanks, ?Jim

Re: New FTM-6000 LOCK
Yes, the operating manual, Page 3 states: 1. Press the Power (Lock) switch, "LOCK" is shown on the display for one second, and then the keys and DIAL knob are locked. 2. Press the POWER (Lock) switch again "UNLOCK" is shown on the display and the keys and the DIAL knob are unlocked. The PTT switch and the VOL knob cannot be locked. RT Systems Programming Issue resolved
Hi folks, I acquired an FTM-6000 a few weeks back and ordered the RT Systems software for it.
I like to use my VHF/UHF rigs as a scanner for ham/railroad/marine frequencies. After having entered a few frequencies manually when first unboxing the rig, I turned the rig off, then connected the RTS USB cable to the rig and attempted to invoke the Clone feature as directed. The rig came up with CLONE on the display, but try as I might I could not get to the CLONE RX or TX display to commence communication with the computer (a Mac). I called RT Systems who suggested I needed to take the rig in for service. Not being happy with that response as the radio seemed to be working fine otherwise, I puzzled over the issue for a bit. I disconnected the USB cable, turned on the rig to find I had left it in Memory Scan mode. I keyed the mic to stop the scan, then tried the sync process again with the USB cable installed. It worked! The documentation for the FTM-6000 does not document this situation, nor does the RT Systems manual. I called RT Systems back to let them know in case anyone else runs into this issue. I hope this helps someone. 73 Tracy VE3TWM YouTube Channel "Outdoors On The Air" |
Re: Bluetooth adapter - revisited
So I got the adapter and installed it, with the idea to pair it with the U-Connect hands free in my Jeep. If anyone has done this and gotten it to work, I’d appreciate your advice. I see the U-Connect, but pairing is unsuccessful. 73,? |
