I don't have a ready explanation for you on why you had continuity on the 1200 Baud lead but not the PKK/Squelch lead for your cable, which was the opposite for what I saw for the cable I got

I think what you want might be called reverse.
Pin 1 is the same color on both ends.
The 1st cable example you posted should work.
I ran into the same problem with many previous mobile installations

My Radio Played A Tune...
So I was on a bit of a drive today and after 2-3 hours (I estimate) the radio played a little tune.
I swear I am not hearing things. Anyone else have that happen?

He mentioned low volume from the earpiece and distorted audio when transmitting.
Also, odd to me that you have to press the bottom on the top side of their BT unit that's on your ear to PTT.

Cat 5 and straight through connections
I posted a while back that I had success with cat 5 coupler and also straight through cable on Kenwood
gear.
Today I tested this on the FTM-6000R and yes, it is the same so to speak as Kenwood.
