FT-60R Main Board

Hello,
?
My FT-60R's monitor button stopped working, so I couldn't get into the settings menu.
?
I took it to Yaesu for repairs, and they came back saying that I need a new main board due to water damage, and that replacement cost is about $240+
?
Does anyone have a board for sale, or know where I can get one reasonably cheap keeping in mind that the price of a brand new radio is: $155.00?
?
Thank you - Samer

David,

Not sure what the board number would be, but I checked eBay and didn't find anything.? Do you know what the board. model would be?

Thanks - Samer K6SKH

I just repaired a heavily corroded FT-60. If the main board is still operating and it’s just the button that’s not working I could probably fix it for you as well.?

Jonathan,

I know for a fact that there was no water damage.? I had some alkalines in it last year, and they went bad with minor battery acid damage.? The radio was working fine (and still is now), but the monitor button stopped working suddenly.

I will get it back from Yaesu next week.? How much would you charge to repair it?

Thanks - Samer K6SKH

We can hammer out the details via direct message but it won’t be that much. You pay shipping both ways and for any replacement parts needed plus a small flat fee. Most likely it will just need a good cleaning and a conductor replaced.?

also what do you mean you could not get into the settings menu? You can get into the settings menu by pressing the ?F then 0. Do you mean the special settings for locking it to memory only or vhf or uhf mode only?

If you want to see my repair look in the amateur radio repair groups.io?

it could be only a gummed up switch pad

I believe those switches are a carbon filled rubber pad on the underside of the push buttons that makes a circuit on the pcb and over time the pcb gets gummed up from the rubber. ? you might try taking it apart and cleaning the pcb traces that make up the switch contacts and the conductive black rubber on the push buttons using cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. do not aggressively scrub the black rubber or you will scrub the conductive carbon particles out of the rubber. ? just a thought.

Yes, I have a couple of ft-50 radios and I have the spring pins for the battery contacts. Those commonly go bad as well as the power button.

Hi Jonathan,

I messaged you privately, I think, because I don't want to clutter this discussion with a private issue.

Wondering if you got it.? If not, can you please suggest a different method for me to reach you. I have an FT-60 that needs repairs.

Thank you - Samer?

I noticed the rubber cover on the mic and power plugs is broken. Do you want to replace that? It’s really cheap I think less than a dollar from Yaesu for the replacement part itself.

-Jonathan.?
